  1. ...and our bandwidth has been restored. Welcome back. "It's a new day people" is the beginning of a rant from a drill sergeant- does anyone know which movie these quotes originate from?

Battle is the Great Redeemer. It is the fiery crucible in which true heroes are forged. The one place where all men truly share the same rank, regardless of what kind of parasitic scum they were going in.

I see everyone is having a productive morning. You know it gives me a swell of pride knowing soldiers of your... caliber will be leading the charge tomorrow. Tip of the spear. Edge of the knife. Crack of my ass.

Are you an American?  No, *sir*. I'm from *Kentucky*.

Maybe Liya12 should visit VMF, seems to be some over there that has no useful information but just communicate with someone to run their post number up.

Great, just another thing to look out for. It does begin to explain some responses though doesn't it?

Some estimates say that half of internet activity is now by AI bots. As recently as five years ago that would have been unthinkable.

  3. For some reason most guys today will use gas shocks, but these cars were designed for hydraulic shocks- watch this video to understand the difference. I would watch the entire thing to understand the relationship of springs and shocks and how shocks can change the spring rate, but in particular he mentions shocks at 5:30 and again at 18:00

I have been using one over 3 years on one of my cars. It works, but the pump itself is a little noisy especially when the fuel level is low. It should be easy to install a better pump on the pick up assembly when/if the pump part fails. It also reads the fuel level decently.

Have you ever had vapor lock without a return? Is it ever driven in stop and go traffic, or maybe turned off for a short period and won't start?

My boxes of parts came in this week.  I went with the CVF racing kit with all the brackets and pulleys.  The AC bracket and pulley are still in the box for whenever I want to add AC.  Radiator hose is Continental brand from summit and fit after I trimmed a couple inches off.

I still need to replace the fan and shroud.  I have been trying to figure out what all to order for a shroud, fan, and fan clutch that will fit this motor and radiator combination.

Well dang, none of the links can be copied and pasted to see what it is. Do you have the "snipping tool" to take a picture?

Resurrecting this post to help draw a conclusion before dropping the engine back in. As I mentioned above, the Weiand manifold I purchased during the parts scarcity era a wile back may be cutting it close with my non-shaker hood setup. Has anyone else used the Weiand 8023WND with no shaker? What spacer / air cleaner / carb combination did you use?

For those that used a different aluminum intake and haven't commented previously, what combination did you use?

Recap, I have a bone stock 351w that is a 2v. Curiosity got the better of me so I finally pulled my carb and distributor to measure my intake manifold on the car. As stangs-R-me speculated, the 2V is the same height as the 4V, or 3.00". Using playdoh on the stock air cleaner in four positions, it is 2.016" to the hood at the closest position. This is with the 1.025" high aluminum spacer that the PCV connects to.

The Weiand is 4.715 tall so even with a 1" spacer and stock air cleaner my math says it should clear the hood by 0.300. Double check please.

Edit: If you have a Mach1 hood scoop (not shaker), the three bolts on each side need shortening to the nut. The following numbers are with the 1" PCV spacer. The front and rear bolts appear to be outboard of the raised ring on the filter lid where the air filter contacts. However, the center nuts are in the way. You could remove them entirely or maybe shorten the height of the nuts. It is difficult to get a good number with playdoh but I calculate clearance to the nut at 0.243 to 0.055 using the Weiand Stealth manifold.  With the Edelbrock 7181 it is even worse with clearance to the nut of 0.158 or actual interference of 0.030. The Edelbrock 2181 Performer would have at least 0.700 clearance to the nut.

Then I wore out my strut rod bushings again and it is less precise.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the stock strut rods, opting for something like Street or Track. The "before video" scared the crap out of me. Watch the bushing compress, the strut rod bend and the wheel moving forward and back:

    here is the "after video":

  8. The original Ididit columns were only designed to fit GM steering wheels, but now are made to fit our Fords. The slip ring assembly for the horns didn't line-up.

I don't know when these became available, but it was news to me, so this is like a public service announcement ;)

I only checked for the 69, but the things to look for:

The top of the column is a close match, the original was 3.965, and the new one is 4.00

It has the the EM flasher switch and turn signal switch

This column will only work with the original factory power assist (or manual), but not Borgeson

The slip ring works, fitting the original steering wheel so the horn will work.

It is collapsible just like the OEM to meet safety regulations.

The whole thing is said to be a direct replacement, giving you a tilt wheel.

The part number for a 69 paintable column is 1300646010 (currently $781)

    The rag joint is 3000053434

I haven't tried this yet but now we have an alternative to finding the unicorn OEM columns
