  1. When welding in replacement metal such as this, how do you ensure that everything lines up straight, so that when you are done, the trunk sits flat and straight, and the one side of your bumper isn't leaning to one side. The reason I ask is because I have floors to replace in my convertible, and have been told to have my doors done first, so that when you put in the bracing etc, before the floors go in, everything lines up and the car doesn't sag in the middle. Would this not be a simialr issue when replacing trunk dropoffs and fenders etc....? Bill from Canada, eh! Newbie welder
  2. Looks great, I'd love to see some wiser shots of the whole engine compartment. Bill
  3. It is more rectangle rather than square. Bill
  4. I looked at the one I have and it has what appears to be the numbers 1A29003 stamped on the bottom. (NON-SHELBY) I took some photos, but the website won't let me add them at the moment. I hoep that this helps. Bill from Ottawa, Canada
  5. That car looks wild. It is so clean, I had to look twice... Bill
  6. What color red is your car? Is it a ford color, if so, is it Candy Apple, Indian Fire Red, Looks too dark for calypso coral, or is it flower power red? It looks great, good job. Bill
  7. Let's not forget, theat you can have the best built car on the street, but if the driver sucks, so will your time... Bill
  8. Do you have a motor from a newer Mustang in your car? Bill
  9. That would be great if you posted more pics, as I also have to reskin a door or two before I start the metal work on the floor. I have a convertible and have to make sure that everything fits and is aligned before I start taking old metal in the floors out and replacing it with new metal. So any pics you have of your doors would be greatly appreciated. Bill from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
  10. How did you merge the photos into your posting, I have only been able to have them attached at the bottom of a message. Bill
  11. I wish more members went to the effort to share their pics like you. Good job. Bill from Canada
  12. I have heard of similar stories about some repo parts. I have heard that there are some parts you should stay away from, and others that you should stay with original parts or NOS. Quality and grade of steel being the major concerns. I have a similar concern because I need to replace a convertible drivers door. I wonder if anyone has put a list of together outlining the do's and don't of parts buying.... Bill from Ottawa
  13. Welcome to the forum. I am at the similiar stage of restoration as you are. I noticed that you had your car sand blasted, did you do this yourself? I have been considering renting or buying a unit, but I don't think my 5hp compressor will provide enough power for the sprayer. Anyways, feel free to post some before, during and after pictures of your car. Regards, Bill from Canada
  14. Thanks for more photos. It is great to see the differnet paint schemes, my 69 vert is originally meadowlark yellow, and the car is currently in bare metal, after seeing a galaxie 500 in meadowlark yellow, I have realized that this is not he color for me. I am leaning towards black or black jade. Bill from Ottawa
  15. Love the pictures, if you have more, feel free to poat more, I really enjoyed seeing them. Thanks, Bill from Ottawa Currently 43 degrees on August 20th, what the #$%* is this....

  18. Well I have two convertibles, One for parts and one for a rebuild, as well as I have one coupe also for parts. There were only 14,700 convertible produced in 1969, so I also wonder how many are left. I would guestimate that it would be between 30-40%, just a guess. Bill from Canada
