  1. Very much appreciated. What I found really weird about this is that the areas that tried to lift were very small and absolutely random over a large spray area. Almost resembled solvent pop but not exactly. My solution was to basically sand through it to the base primer and shoot it over again. That makes for a pretty big PITA, but I certainly won't hesitate to change over and learn the trick of the JP209 if I save myself a single issue with that sort of thing!
  2. This is almost unbelievable timing that you offer this information and thanks very much for passing it along. I have recently had experience with this very issue on a few small areas with JP205 and will be moving to JP209 shortly. I have been working with JP205 for q good while and had a nice combination worked out that sprayed reasonably well with my turbine HVLP equipment, so it seems I will be starting from scratch with the JP209, but based on what you say about "sprayability", it might just work out better in the end. Either way, I will report everything I find on the blog!

  4. Just out of curiosity, what arms did you end up using on your car? Something available in Europe or did you decide on something from another US model? Great car!
  5. I think we should write a decoy article just for the 'vette forum just to "f" with 'em. They hate that! I have been a long-time member of the Boss 302 forum but don't play much over there. More of a stocker crowd and that ain't me! However, I do recognize the Mark/Red Boss/Fallbrook, CA owner you describe. A regular contributor as I recall and a very nice Boss by all I have seen posted.
  6. Excellent stuff gentlemen! Of course, until this is published on the Corvette forum, by somebody with a retired GM Engineer signature, it can't possibly be believed. Pretty pictures though! But seriously, this is the kind of thing that is genuinely helpful! Much appreciated and I hope the O.P. finds it so as well.
  7. One GM guys writes an article that tells everybody to connect to manifold vacuum and everybody believes it's the best thing since pants with pockets. Leave the vacuum reference line at the ported vacuum port, check total advance AND verify the curve and make absolutely sure you know that the idle and part throttle A/F is correct before assuming anything.
  8. Actually, j69302 is absolutely correct. The OEM upstream sensors are always well ahead of the exhaust crossover (a.k.a., balance pipe) and are the primary feedback mechanism for engine A/F monitoring. The absolutely MUST be kept hot to function correctly and that drives an unending goal to get them as close to the head as possible for fast light-off of the cat and quick heating of the sensor. On the flip side, the downstream sensors are always either in the catalyst bed or directly behind it to monitor catalyst efficiency and to close the OBD loop. These too are (almost) always ahead of any exhaust balance pipe to avoid signal confusion and cold-sensor inaccuracies. The bottom line is the further away from the heat source, the worse the sensors work. That is why all wide-band sensors are heated to maintain a minimum operating temp to ensure accuracy over a wide range of ratios.
  9. I have/had the same setup as shown in Unkleen's photo above. I wonder if it is different on staggered shock cars? My new setup will use the inboard rear seatbelt anchors for mounting points as I will not be using a back seat and these points are quite sturdy.
  10. Interesting. My 70 Boss 302 didn't have any sort of these reinforcement brackets/plates since new. ??????
  11. Slow, slow, SLOW! Detail work at the rear of the car continues, but progress has been made! Heading into the Fall season and things are starting to shape up on the bodywork front. Soon, we will be fitting new doors and working the roof areas. My Winter work is planned! http://1970boss302.blogspot.com/2014/10/rear-body-detail-work-hi-build-primer.html
  12. Oh MAN is that looking nice! Will you have it home before the snow flies?
  13. It sure looks like the car is just not transferring weight to the rear tires correctly as evidenced by the severe bunny-hop motion throughout first gear. The shocks look like they need a lot more rebound damping instead of compression damping (but that's hard to say) and I would definitely say the boys advocating the lower hole and higher rear tire pressures are on the mark. Also, if the front shocks are adjustable, loosen up the rebound on them a good bit and see what happens. Also, did you already baseline the car with plain leaf springs? Can't recall. Keep diggin'!
  14. That looks pretty darn nice! Thanks for the photos! Any idea if there is a 70 version in the wings?
  15. Very nice! Thanks for the update!
  16. Your car is looking FANTASTIC! Loving these updates!
  17. Hey Rich, is the silver in the stripe the base for the candy as well? Love it!
  18. Yep. My post regarding differences between the 69 & 70 molding was deleted. Stealth ads SUCK!
  19. Details, details! Lots of hours spent in the shop working on the rear quarter end caps and valence getting everything gapped and smoothed just like we want it. Lots of work left, but it's really starting to look great! http://1970boss302.blogspot.com/2014/09/quarter-end-cap-rear-valence-work.html
  20. It's my Night Mission Boss 302 FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/NightMissionBoss302?ref=hl
  21. Gave that a "like" from my Boss page! Cool stuff! :thumbup1:
  22. A gun shop owner (in CA no less!) and a bad ass & beautiful 70 you ended up keeping! I knew I liked you!
