    My New Ride

approved! :D Love the color scheme! I'd love to get something like that, but unfortunately car seats (2) don't quite fit and I'd be afraid of the road salt eating up this beater :) ps. slight tangent, how goes the turbo build in your straight-6?
  2. If you've got a dedicated 12V source for it, you're good to go!
  3. I had mine wired up to the resistance wire, and after communicating with the folks at Pertronix, am convinced it was the source of my gremlins. I believe instructions for IgnitorII say it needs a 12v source. When cold, it would get 12V and be fine. After things are warmed up, it would have a lower voltage. While driving (hwy, extended drive), it would feel like the engine would cut out for a millisecond about once per hour. Once I stopped the car, it would refuse to start again...until everything had cooled off (several hours) and it would start/run like a champ again.
  4. dare I ask, but did you wire up a new 12V feed to the pertronix distributor? (ie. No resistance wire?). Otherwise more gremlins might show up.
  5. hahaha love it! :D
  6. shoulder strap! I can't find an interior pic at the moment, but I didn't bother installing mine (69 sportsroof) when the new headliner went in. I don't like the look of it, and once the elastic stretched, it was always dangling. I'm assuming '70 is the same as 69...
  7. Nice! I did the "Rookie Experience" a couple of years ago, and had an absolute hoot. It was FANTASTIC! No faster than 133mph though (they had a pace car in front to slow you down) but when you're driving, 133mph is quick enough around those corners! :D
  8. Hey you're in Ontario too -- any chance you're retiring your FRDZILLA plates? Me want! :) (seriously!)
  9. your back seat matches the one in m GT. It's a non-fold-down seat. Hinged at the bottom, but secured at the top.
  10. I'm a huge fan of the over-the-hood shot. I love the hood scoop that blocks my view :D (even looks good from the passenger side!)
  11. These are the only pics I can find at the moment of my unmolested engine bay. (ok, I know the distributor and carb have been slightly molested!) The engine is currently out of the car :) so not quite so useful for pics. I'll see if I can dig up the rest of my stash of pics I took before engine removal. (note coil on the passenger side ;) )
  12. Another cool site, not sure if it's worthy ;) but it's a great reference: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/department51.cfm
  13. My GT has a 351W with A/C (stock) and the coil is on the passenger side, like the image above. The rest of the engine is unmolested and fairly original, so I believe this is where it's supposed to be :) I'll try to get a pic up later.
  14. have your text... and then your image surrounded by and then more text!
  15. And check out the readers rides again. Another Flanders makes the grade :D
  16. yep, original to '69, Silver Jade. The pic in the mag isn't quite right! That said, I do find it becomes a different color with every different shade of sunlight. Once I finish wetsanding it this summer I'll post some good pics.
  17. good suggestion, Pak! I need to cut it anyway to put my 6x9's in so I'll see what I can come up with.. That said, I could probably cut out some big holes since its going to get covered by fabric anyway. I have no reservations about cutting the metal support either. It is already partially butchered by a PO for small (5"?) circular speakers.
  18. yep, I've got an oval shaped warp where the water was pooling. I've been religiously spraying mine with water and then squishing it with a board/weights every 2nd night. It's been a couple weeks now, so I may pull it out soon and see if it goes back to it's warped state. This one might end up being my "trial" board for my speaker install. If the holes all work out, then I'll get a new one and make it all pretty.
  19. my cardboard (was new) parcel tray is warped due to a water leak in my rear window. Water pooled in it and sat for a bit, so its got some funny warping. it still fits (fastback) but I want to flatten it again so I can cover it in black vinyl and cut some holes for a clean speaker install. (yep, I've fixed the water leak) I sprayed it with water and put it on my concrete floor with a piece of wood on top and few hundred pounds of weight on it. After a few months, I checked it and it was nice and flat again. BUT after a few days, it warped again back to the original warped shape. Wtf. has anyone had success flattening out a warped rear parcel shelf on a 69 fastball?. I don't have the urge to buy another :-(
  20. hahaha I like where this thread is going
  21. hahaha yeah, Winnipeg was where my distributor first died on the Calgary --> Ottawa road trip :D Gotta thank my pop (Norm) for joining me on the drive, and submitting the letter!
  22. My cross-Canada road trip had pretty consistent mileage, but it definitely got noticably better during parts that had the slower speed limits (or when I actually drove at or below the limit) ;)
  23. wow that's amazing work. Can't say I'm a big fan of the exhaust though ;) but can definitely appreciate the work involved!
