  1. I need a new speedometer cable for my 69. Has anyone bought a re-pop/aftermarket one for there car? Any issues?
  2. I got my Marti report the other day. Was or seemed accurate. I also went to the NC dmv to have a title search done. I was hoping to find out about the history on the car and possibly find some original parts to it. Only cost me $10 bucks. Maybe you can do this to find out whats going on with yours.
  3. Ive been to Scottys in Oxford, N.C.. Picked up a set of Gt 390 manifolds from him. He took me on a tour of his place on his golf cart. Supper nice guy. Has a ton of mustangs. Even some Gt Fairlanes. He took me inside his two trailers to look for some parts. Hes got quite alot of stuff. Hes a little high on his parts imo but who isnt. Seems to me he keeps all his really good stuff and tries to sell off all the stuff thats not that great. Hes got alot of stuff but wont sell anything off the cars. Or at least for me...
  4. Ive heard that the new original Ford tooling grills have a more glossy color than the original oem grills which had a more charcoal color. Can anyone validate this?
  5. I found a supposedly nos flip open gas cap. Guy only wants $225 for it. Kinda cheap for a nos gas cap. What do I look for in trying to determine if its a real nos part and not the re-pop one? It doesnt have the chain or cable on it...
  6. Hi, Im wanting to run the 69 tips but they will only work on 2" pipe. I really like to run 2 1/2" pipe out the back. I cant seem to find this guy your talking about. Got any other tips on how to find him?
  7. The tag on the under dash harness is a light purple in color. Has the following written on it... S/X-F C9ZB 14401-AE. On the lower portion of the tag it looks as if it reads 14401 - AF... I contacted DMV in NC today to do a title search on the car. Hope to get in touch with the previous owners to possibly find some of the original parts and history on it. If I knew how to post pictures I would. I dont know if all this Tach stuff is really worth all the headache. I think Im with 1969 Mach 1 on his quote.. "Dont get to excited over a Tach".
  8. None that I know of... But my muffler/exhaust guy said he would custom do mine for a grand in stainless 2 1/2 out the back...
  9. I need a new rear package tray. I want be putting speakers in it. There are a few options out there. The fiberboard one and the fiberglass. I also think there is another. I want to stay original or as close looking to original as I can. Also do they come painted black? Does the color match like original (charcoal)? Do you have to paint them? Thanks...
  10. Ok guys got my Marti report today. It says nothing about having a factory instaled tach in my automatic car. Also the original altenator wiring harness is for a non tach car. It has 3 wires on the plug instead of 4 like the tach cars. Im still trying to find out if the headlight harness is a non tach harness. But its really dificult to tell. Anything to look for on it?
  11. I use Wix filters on my cars and my diesel. Stay away from Fram. Motorcraft filters are some generic stuff with Motorcraft stamped on them. Do your research and youll see. The diesel guys really know there stuff when it comes to filters....
  12. I believe your right. There was a wired installed/run to the coil that someone done. The wires red/black coming off the tach were spliced into some other wires. I undone the mess that someone done and now Im trying to straighten it all back out. Problem is I wish I knew if this tach was original. I keep looking at pix on e-bay trying to identify a tach harness headlight/underdash/altenator. I cant find the build sheet. Im going to get a marti report and also called DMV to have a title search done on it. Supposedly there has only been three owners of the car. None of my wiring diagrams or the wiring assembly diagrams even show a tach harness... gggeeessshhh...
  13. I got my buddies wiring harness from his 69 windsor car. His connector that goes to the instrument cluster has 13 pins. his is a non tach car. My connector has 14 pins with totaly different wires and colors. I know this could mean nothing but I got two resistance wires which he doesnt. I was told too look for a green connector on the headlight harness up in the front.
  14. Can anyone tell me if my tach is original. My 69 Mach 1 390 automatic car has a tach in it but I cant tell if it came with it. I also cant find the build sheet. I heard the headlight harness and altenator harness are different. Does anyone have a picture? Tach doesnt currently work and someone did some wire hacking on the back of the insrument cluster...
  15. If all else fails from above adjust them with the engine runing. Ive done it this way for years. Never a problem. Just a big mess....
  16. Ive got a 69 also. I had an extra set of 70 disc brake spindles lying around. Im going to use them because the sindles went to a larger size in 70. Then all I need to buy is the rotors and calipers which are readily available at auto parts stores. The spindles are expensive new. Try to hunt down a used set if you can. Im not sure about the Granada stuff. Ive heard pros and cons about them.
  17. I cant seem to find anything that tells me what the backspace is. I want to say 4 1/2...
  18. Your fan needs to be at least an inch from the radiator. Need more info on your engine.. Is it stock/modified? What engine is it? Did you do or change anything then discover the problem?
  19. Did you burp it? Park it nose first facing uphill. Take off the radiator cap while engine is cold. Crank it up and let it get to temp. You might see air bubbles coming up thru the coolant. Sometimes these air bubbles get trapped in the block and can cause issues. Imo you dont need a high flow water pump on a stock motor if thats what you have. Re-check your timming if you moved it. If I remember right if you retard the timing to much it will cause them to heat up. If the waters moving then that should indicate the pumps vanes are doing there job. You can grab the fan and rock it side to side to check the bearings. Too much movement means there shot....
  20. Hi, new guy here. Slid in from the VMF forum. Im from Greensboro NC. I have a 65 coupe, 70 fastback, and a 69 Mach1 S-code... I want to put a set of the 69-70 Shelby GT wheels 15x7 on my 69 car. There the ones with the aluminum center and chrome outer. Look similar to the magnums. My question is will I be ok with a 235/60/15 tire? I dont want issues with the tires rubbing the upper a-arms... Thanks!
