  1. By any chance are you running a vented gas cap? Allmost sounds like you need a vent on the fuel system somewhere. I would check the fuel filter as well. I had a silular situation. Edit: what I did was put a -6 vent on the filler neck, made a loop on the line then out of the trunk and put a small k&n filter on. Sounds like its cavitating. Try taking a drive with out the gas cap on, in the same suituation.
  2. I went with the fast xfi and xim. I really like the fast stuff, but would like to try out the new holly efi. I heard that's pretty good. Those are all controlled by a labtop or tablet. For control, its deferent better then a stock ecu, unless you hook up an obd2 port and use a diablo tuner to control the stock ecu. But even still I like mine for ease of changing tunes, power adders like nitrous control and or meth,2 step, boost control, fan hook up, fuel pump or staged pumps, can bus to run my race pack dash, shift light, ect.. I'm using the exact same system to run my mod motor as it was running my Cleveland. I'm currently changing my wiring on the whole system. And it's very easy to hook up the fast ecu's. Everything is labeled unlike other ecu's like haltec, aem v1 v2 or infinity, motec ect.
  3. To each there own. Regardless it's the same basic wiring needed.....
  4. Must of missed it, but what's the price?
  5. People do this kind of stuff all the time. Look at all the new 5.0 motors, 4.6's, 5.4's ,ect.. in old mustangs. I was going to put in the stock ecu and engine wiring ,in my car from an 08 shelby, but went aftermarket ecu instead for more control. The bare basic things you will need to wire up is, coolant , map or maf, spark (coils), injectors, tps, ait , cam, crank, ( depending on bank to bank or sequential injection), and iacv. If your serious, download the stock pin out for the ecu , trace the wires and label. It's not to hard just patience.
  6. When I switched from the hooker long tubes to the Sanderson shorties I gain about 1.5-2" of ground clearance with the shorties, and sounded better as well. No problems for fitment wise and that's with a 6 speed t-56 trans. But custom down pipes is the only problem with the sandersons. I did clean up the weld splatter in the exhaust ports before install.
  7. I ended up giving myself a black eye double wrenching and one of the wrenches broke. Lol I used an air hammer to push the bolt out. I did not have factory nuts and bolts in the back. The leafs were also my worst part of the Restro.
  8. I couldn't deal with my wheel. It stunk very bad as well. I need up getting an aftermarket instead. My car is a Restro mod so it fits. But if I was doing a 100 point I would of kept it. Pakrat, your avatar is a tease, where's the nipple? Lol
  9. 2 Bosch 044's in tank , drop in from the top , with 2 -10 lines in and 1 -6 return. 1970 tank sumped kind of. I know I don't have a 408", but I don't like to under size my fuel system by any means.
  10. Very interesting topic. Wouldn't this kind of mod hinder performance?

    axels

If those axels are not what you wanted I would not put those in. Doesn't matter if toms are better then strange. That's not what you asked for and that's the bottom line. If the guy did tell you a bunch of lies and you don't trust him, get your car back in your hands and be done with him.
  12. Wow!! What a find this is.
  13. Does anyone have any pics of these in the 69/70 model ?
  14. All those engines are bad ass!! Stroked out 429, 427 s.o. or 428cj. Wish I had that problem lol I like being unique and would choose the 427. But your car at the end of the day and do what ever what makes you the happiest. All tho a stroked out 429 twin turbo would be hella sweet.
  15. How long is this sale on for? I'm not ready for this yet but closer to the spring I will be.
  16. Thanks Bob, I try lol Those gauges look great in there btw.
  17. That's very similar to what I did last year. I used a vented air cleaner on top and mounted the modified base of a repo shaker to it. Worked very well.
  18. If you zoom in on the bag, on the right, it looks like Dakota Digital. What's going on in tx then? Tx2k??
  19. When I was based with this same decision, I based mine on how much power I want to make, with efi, and fuel economy, since I all ready had the fast set up. I chose to go with the mod motor over the Cleveland. My gaol is 700rwhp with 18 mpg, on 91pump. The push rod sound will be very missed!! The 408 you have sounds like a beast and you have a lot of money into it all ready. Tough call.
  20. Build the car that puts the biggest smile on your face!! Personally I would build the mustang with a big power plant. Yes I'm biased. Lol
  21. Good thread. Lots of good info. Mr.CNC, Looks like ccw 505's ( I think or 505a's) and ccw classics? They are nice wheels. Got some on my supra. Expensive though. I bought a used set ( guy used them for 1 season) and it was 2500 wheels and rubber. I have to get wider in the rear next season. The 275's aren't going to hook with the power it will be making. So i'll be watching this thread. :)
