jgkurz 52 Report post Posted May 10, 2017 I was thinking about adding an engine torque strap to my 69 with an FE but came across these poly motor mounts which would be MUCH easier. I know they will transmit more vibration but is it night and day or is it tolerable? Thanks for any comments. http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/motormounts.html
barnett468 418 Report post Posted May 10, 2017 it is a noticeable increase in vibration but not quite night and day . i would say that it your engine vibrates some now and you drive the car a lot i would not use them.
fvike 173 Report post Posted May 10, 2017 I have them, for the 351W. When I did the swap , I can't say that I noticed any difference in the vibrating. The original mounts was probably shot anyway, so they might not have done such a good job. I have never had an issue with them or thought that the vibrating was harsh or unpleasant. BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted May 11, 2017 i have them along with a torque rod with the same type of bushing. i don't really think about it much or it doesn't bother me (i only drive the car in the range of 1500 to 2500 miles per year). I'm also running an unsprung clutch disc. in my opinion, what's really annoying or noticeable is metal banging/hitting metal.
jgkurz 52 Report post Posted May 11, 2017 Good info. Thanks. Are the TCP poly mounts banging/hitting metal? My apologies, but I don't understand.
BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted May 11, 2017 no, i'm refering to clevis or chain link style torque bars. the kind that when power is applied it's like hitting a hammer on a nail (if the clevis is sloppy loose).
