Raven R code 281 Report post Posted April 21, 2017 Does anyone know if this bolt https://www.npdlink.com/store/index.php?p=manage_wishlist&wl_action=manage_wishlist#/store/products/bolt_kit_lower_control_arm_concours-148524-100.html can be safely changed (or swapped out ) with coil springs in? Not sure if the round offset washer is gonna be a problem and need replacing since it's opening got rounded when trying to remove. I don't want it to hold up suspension assembly if at all possible. thanks!
Mike65 476 Report post Posted April 21, 2017 Raven, the link is not working, are you referring to the lower control arm bolt at the frame the one you want to replace?. If so I think you could replace the bolt with the coil springs in just put a floor jack under the lower control arm. 1 Raven R code reacted to this

1969Fstback 58 Report post Posted April 21, 2017 One option would be to find a similar size bolt and chase it in from the tap side of the cam bolt as you are pulling the cam bolt out. Then chase it back out with the new cam bolt. Never tried it nor have I tried changing that bolt with springs in.
larryc94 38 Report post Posted April 21, 2017 Your not wanting to jack on it, it will put stress on it. Just let the both wheel's hang and the bolt will slip out. It will require a new alignment
fvike 173 Report post Posted April 24, 2017 I would think you'd want to use a tool like in this article. It will "lock" the pressure from the spring in place, and leave the LCA free to work on.

Whileyou do not need this tool, it will make life easier as it will hold the slindle in a position where it will be easier to work with the lower half of the suspension bob
larryc94 38 Report post Posted April 27, 2017 If you use that tool you need to use it on both sides. If only one side the sway bar will load the lower arm and make it difficult to remove the bolt. Just let both wheels hang and remove the bolt
