bryonbush 85 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 I chased issues for a long time and spent a lot of money for nothing. All for a bad msd box.
ray1970 88 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 The box is 4 years old. When I put it on I could not believe how much better the car ran.(4 years ago) When I took it off I could not believe how much better the car ran. Lucky I did not spend a lot of money to find this out. Just more time that could have been used else ware.. Old cars are kind of a time machine in many ways... Rsmach1 71 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 Well yes they do go bad, just like any electronic device. I've had the best luck mounting them inside the passenger compartment and not in the engine bay.
Mach1 Driver 562 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 Well yes they do go bad, just like any electronic device. I've had the best luck mounting them inside the passenger compartment and not in the engine bay. Yep, heat and moisture are the major culprits. Most electronics have electrolytic capacitors somewhere in the design and they will only live 10-15 years before their electrolyte dries up and that's also when things die. They're great when they work. Imagine the state of the younger generations if an EMP bomb went off and they were deprived of their cell phones. There's a lot to be said for a simple set of points and a condenser. By the way, a condenser is an old-time word for capacitor, when they thought that electricity was condensed onto a plate, before they truly understood electron flow and what was really occurring. Black_69_FB 49 Report post Posted June 13, 2016 I would eventually like to ditch all my MSD stuff. In fact, I'd like to ditch the dizzy altogether and switch to an EDIS setup.
