RPM 1,190 Report post Posted February 7, 2015 This may be old news to you folks, but I'll share anyway. I've worn glasses for my nearsightedness since 1968, and started wearing bifocals about 10 years ago because my arms got too short. After a recommendation from an older brother I picked up a +2.0 optical lens for my welding hood for $5. World of difference. I highly recommend one if your eyesight is waning. mwye0627 44 Report post Posted February 8, 2015 I also had to step up to a +2.0 lens for my helmet.... I can now SEE whatever it is I'm trying to weld... Before it was getting pretty much "hit or miss"!!!
Mike65 476 Report post Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks for the info, my up close eye site is getting poor to go along with needing glasses to see distance. It stinks getting old. :(
latoracing 256 Report post Posted February 22, 2015 I've got an eye appointment next month to get some new contacts, I can't hardly read this screen. I TIG welded up a coupling at work the other day and had to borrow a pair of reading glasses from one of the guys in my shop. I've worn glasses since I was in kindergarten, always wondered what it would be like to see without help. I am thankful for the eyesight I do have, it could be worse. I feel for you Bob :)
