What is this part called and it use

The enclosed picture shows a metal strap attached to the body next to the 1/4 window rubber of a Fastback. What is it's purpose.

I have no ideal? What type of clip and what does it secure to? My panel just rest on top of it, but thats it.

You can just see my 'clip' thingy in this pic. No idea what it is. The interior trip doesn't clip 'into' it, but maybe it rests on top of it? Need to check once I get home.

Do your quarters roll down or are they the vent type? That looks like a stop for the vent window to me. I couldn't find it in any of my catalogs or books.

I sat and looked at it for a long time. I've come to the conclusion that it is a last minute thought by Ford to beef up the structure and give the fiberglass panel more support.

My car doesn't have these and there are no signs they were ever there. I have a June 10, 1969 build date, Dearborn. Could this be something that changed mid-year or between plants?

Tgriffin91 -- the chrome piece is definitely a stop for the vent-style window, but the original post was asking about the metal tab thing that's on the bottom right of my picture (only half of the metal piece is in the picture). The window definitely doesn't touch it.

 

maybe it was used during vehicle assembly, and not worth the effort to remove?

My car has the same thing...looked at it the other day at the paint shop.

I remember seeing it when I tore the car down, I THINK my fiberglass piece attached to it, or rested on top of it....I will look at my figerglass when I get hime if I still have it LOL

They went away with those and changed the stamp mold, raising the area up, deleting the need for them. At what time of production I have no idea.

I couldn't tell. I didn't have time to get in a look at it closer. Just enough time to take a couple of bad-angle pictures. There appears to be a cover of some kind that is not present in the other pictures.

There might be something to the build date thing. Mine is a March 6th car from San Jose and I don't remember seeing those pieces on mine. I need to open her up and take a look. B.
