LiLMike 42 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 I can't remember....Is there a bracket that the dimmer switch mounts to or does the dimmer switch just screw directly to the floorboard?
CarZombie 25 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 As I recall, directly to the floorboard. Two sheet metal screws.
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 That is what I am hoping. I have no bracket but the switch I have looks like it clips into some sort of bracket.
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted July 11, 2013 Ya, a pair of sheet metal screws. Nothing fancy... Chuck

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 I've got a plastic right angled piece which bolts to the 45 degree area of the floor board. Since I disassembled the car back in 1999, I believed this is where the dimmer switch mounts. If I was able to post a pic here I would. If you email me at robertpmcdougal@gmail.com I'll send you pics. Bob
THE EVIL TW1N 12 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 You dont need the plastic "bracket". The screws go through the bracket too. It's just a plastic piece that goes under the switch, nothing fancy.
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 I'm not concors correct. If I run across one of these, I can install it but I can do without. I just thought I was missing something important. Thanks again guys.
stangnet33 88 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 If I remember correctly the plastic piece was to help protect the switch from water/moisture.
69R-CODE 25 Report post Posted July 12, 2013 I am getting ready to mount a new one on my car. are there specific measurements to where these are located?
1969vert 55 Report post Posted July 13, 2013 The piece will keep the wires from coming unplugged by your feet..if it come unplugged you will not have any lights.. all power goes through the switch from the headlight switch to the dimmer then to your lights..at least put a tie wrap around it to keep it plugged in.. Ford would not of made it if it was not functional.
