chuy 10 Report post Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Liking the site so far. Looks like a bunch of good info too. Heres the history of my car: Bought this car from my uncle, who had it sitting in my grandmothers garage for better part of 10 years. We would play on it (i know) and in it. I remember one day, after deciding i would take it and restore it (i was 15), I would go over there just to police the Horeseplay around it. Eventually, my grandma decided the car was going to the junk yard and actually had it on the tow truck when I ran outside and saved it. It had been wrecked to the point where my uncle wasnt going to fix it, so I wanted it. The entire front clip needed to be replaced. And while we were at it, replaced the engine and rebuilt the transmission, new rear end, all new interior, new paint etc. This was my daily driver in high school (i know) and i must say....did well with the ladies.... ill just stop there. Since then, I went to college (Texas A&M) and the deal was if i wanted a truck, i had to turn over the keys to the mustang to my dad. Luckily, he didnt sell it (he wanted to), and kept it in the garage, gave it a new paint job and pretty much...did nothing with it except take it all apart to fix odds and ends. When I graduated, it was my first priority. Get a garage, get the car home. Life and marriage put my car on the backburner for the past few years but at least the car is in my garage..which is ok by me. This weekend, after the 10 years or so sitting in the garage..she was brought back to life and I was able to go for a spin again, which was awesome. On the agenda: Get AC system up and running (we never did this) get windows adjusted Get radio back in Un-do some crappy wiring/installation of the engine parts (make it shiny) research the cars history - ive started so far, ordered the marti history and found out the car originally came in Aztec Aqua with Black Vinyl kiwi buckets. Other than that, the car is pretty much stock. Sorry for the long read... Im sure yall wanna see it... Edited February 26, 2013 by chuy
Ry-speeed 14 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 I too "played" in a mustang parked in Grandma garage. :001_tongue: Except this car belonged to my Dad, who eventually gave to me as I started getting interested and he came to the realization he would never get around to restoring it. Long story short, that car has since passed on, but her parts live on in my current 69 Coupe. Your car looks pretty good for having been stored for 10 years. Has it been in the family since new? What's the drivetrain? Oh and welcome to the site! :punk:
chuy 10 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 Thanks. Shes been taken care of since the restoration in 2002. Actually, shes been in the garage, stored for 9 years. No, hasnt been in the family since new. I just started my search for the previous/original owners of the car to get a little more history on it. The car is from Atlanta, Ga from a dealership that went under. Somewhere along the line, my uncle bought it, painted it, wrecked it, and left it in my grandmas garage. Machspeed 219 Report post Posted February 26, 2013 I love stories like this. Soon, I will be presenting my own. Good looking coupe, btw. I like the mach 1 style hood and side stripes. Plus, in my opinion, there is no better looking wheel than the Magnum 500.
