Mike65 476 Report post Posted October 29, 2012 As I sit here typing this the wind gusts are around 45 - 50 mph & the rain seems relentless. This storm is much worse then Irene last year, & is supposed to make land fall between southern Ocean county, NJ & Atlantic City, NJ so it will very close to us here in Toms River, NJ. Everything that could blow around is stacked around the Mustang in the garage. I guess no work will be done untill I can empty the garage next weekend after this mess is gone. Please anyone here in this storms path stay inside & do not go out side. Stay safe. Mike.

69gmachine 15 Report post Posted October 29, 2012 My lights have flickered off and back on a few times, but so far we're doing pretty good down here. Wind gusts have hit 52 mph already but hopefully that's as bad as it gets. Stay safe all.

Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted October 30, 2012 The hurricane is now officially a tropical typhoon. But it has merged with another front and is a noreaster by New England standards. I am far enough north it shouldnt be too bad. 60mph winds and heavy rain we have seen before. The noreaster will make it stick around longer though. wild that at the center they messured the lowest barametric pressure on land of any Atlantic storm on record. Most of the leaves are off the trees so hopefully less will fall on the powerlines. There are certainly many less lucky than we are thats for sure. Be safe. Mike65 476 Report post Posted October 31, 2012 Just an update for everyone through all of this we had power but no phone, cable t.v., or internet which we just got back today. We are about 5 miles from the bay on the western side of Toms River we had NO damage here, just branches & some trees down. I am glad this is over. Mike. Jayru 17 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 I lost my power Monday night at the height of the storm and we didn't get it back till about 4 hours ago! Trees down everywhere but my house escaped without damage. Luckily my fiancee's parents are in the next town over (and they never lost power), so we slept/showered there. So glad to be back home with power! But overall very lucky. Most of NJ & NY got hammered. My work building in downtown Manhattan still doesn't have power, subways are all flooded, it's a real mess.
