need help idenifying a bracket from 69

i was playing around with the bracket

 

 

it kinda looks like it bolts to the carb, and wraps around to protect the one side from the heater hoses

 

but still a head scratcher

 

Looks like it gets in the way of vacuum line inlet on Carb manifold, surely you would have remember getting that outta the way.

Was it being used to hold the throttle return spring maybe? If so, it's definitely not original.

i am the 3rd owner of the car, it should be someone took a bracket and it on somewhere. If yall never seen it before, then i shouldnt worry about it. Just curious what it was. If i made a mental note 5 months ago, then i would remember where it went :oops:

I would put all back together. Give it the once over. And see how the car runs. I have taken apart my car the engine in the past and dont remember seeing such a bracket. It appears aftermarket to me . As to where and what it does dont know . but if you know the po maybe they can shine some light on the bracket.

Similar to a lower radiator mount, but you would have 2 of them, I don't know either. Somebody will know, give it some time.

You got it right, here is a picture of the Shelby I am restoring. I always assumed it was a guide for the heater hose. Keeping it away from the carb.

it would make sense that nobody knows what this is... most ppl take carbs off and lose it or dont care enough to reinstall it... lol
