Pak,what did you expect.

To each their own on choice of 69 bodystyle, but,in my humble opinion the

1969 Mustang Sportsroof model is quite possibly the best looking Mustang ever

But then again I am severly biased:thumbup1:

LOL, true, true, and possibly but this isn't a "what's the best looking Mustang" poll, and considering it's far more affordable, obtainable and available I honestly thought the hardtops would be more neck and neck in numbers. In this type of tally you just can't confuse looks or desirability with actual ownership or the vert's would be wiping the floors with all of you instead of trailing so far behind.

Fortunately I enjoy being part of a more exclusive category within a category as I am sure you do too.

Elementry Watson,

The good looks and desireability of the Sportsroof model lead more people to owning one.

Convertibles are nice, but finding good ones is difficult.

Rejoice in the fact that you are one of the few.

And as far as that catagory in a catagory, what do you think Boss 429's are.:biggrin::biggrin:

Here is some numbers to check out!

Original production numbers:

Verts 14,746 % of 149190= 10%

Fst B 61,986 % of 149190= 41%

Mach 72,458 % 0f 149190= 49%

Total 149,190 includes Boss, GT and Shelbys!

I know no coupes!

If you take the %'s which are tracking on the Tally and do the math:

Verts left = 1,474? & Take 80% lost to what ever = 268 left!

FB left = 21,695? & Take 80% lost to what ever = 4,339 left!

Mach's = 40,576? & Take 80% Lost to what ever = 8,115 Left!

Then if you take 50% of these, as if all thats left in the US???

Here is a vert thats left in US!

Wow, we vert owners are rare birds! I love my vert, and not just for sentimental reasons. As sexy as the 69 Mach I is, or 68 GT, or Boss 351 for that matter, I still think the 69 is one of the nicest convertibles of the era. The Firebird verts are sharp, the pre-1968 Vette's are classic, and the Cougars of course, but I still love the lines of my 69 Mustang convertible. (The '57 T-Bird is beautiful, but it's a different era).

Maybe someday I'll get my wish and get that Muscle Car to compliment the vert. Maybe a Bright Blue Metallic Boss 351 with Argent stripes...

Well I'll be the first one to admit that it was the Sportsroof that first caught my eye when I was 16 and made me want to own a 69' Mustang but 16 years later when I was finally in a position to realize that dream it would no longer be as a daily driver and if I was going to own a fair weather only car then why the hell would I want to add a third hard roof to my stable when I could cruise with the top down. Verts obviously aren't for everyone, you either like the top down or you don't. It took me exactly 27 minutes in a convertible rental in Florida to realize I was a top down guy. The only other car I would consider is a faked 67' Shelby Convertible and when you compare the alternate headlight look of a 67' Shelby to a 69' Mustang their is no doubting it's influence in our deisgn making the 69' the most Shelbyish of all the Mustangs.

I think there's a bit of fuzzy math going on here. 80% attrition rate is way high. I would suspect it to be closer to 40-50%. Also, you state there are 14,746 verts made in 69 but then you use 1,474 later and then reduce it by 80%? I wish you were my mortgage provider but not my banker....

Assuming there were 14,746 verts made in 69 and the attrition rate is indeed 80% that would leave 2950 not 268. If you are using the poll %'s in your calculations I think that is way misleading and not even close to indicating the number of 69's still out there.

COZ, I did use the polls, cause thats all I got, have you got some real numbers? Believe it or not, the day I did this the %'s were pretty close! Math is off to see if anyone really read it!!!!

The number on the verts is take the 1474 x's 80% = 1179.2! Now subtract 1179 from 1474 = 295 not 2950!

Sure you don't need me as your banker!!!

And 80% was in there for discussion, I got no clue, can only tell you that I don't think anyone knows for sure. Thanks for the comments, I would really like to know how many are left out there?
