  1. You remove it in an upward motion. Basically, the medallion has 2 gutters and to put it on, you slide it downwards on 2 little metal studs that are welded on the body. Now mine were stuck with thick adhesive that you first have to cut using some type of wire. Dental floss works well, to avoid damaging the paint, for example. G
  2. Yep, saw that as well. Couldn't find it separately, though. Nevermind, thanks!
  3. Hey guys. I am putting my doors back together, and those are missing. Any chance you might know the name of this stuff? It would help me order it. Thanks! G
  4. There are 3 small holes for the screws located around a bigger one for the tip of the sun visor shaft. So total of 4 holes per plate. Personally, I thought about the sun visor screws, but completely forgot the shoulder harness bolts... It all went fine, but got a little stressed about it, as it had already taken me 2 attempts to get the headliner right!
  5. Buckeye, my seat rails look exactly like yours, with the same metal pads. The spacers have a matching surface which make them fit perfectly. I found them here, advertised for 65-73. I don't know if they are period correct, though. http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=121N+01
  6. Scarab, these are known as "seat feet" or seat rail spacers. I had never heard about them until I read something in MM. Apparently, they are supposed to be there. So I looked them up online, found they were not too pricey and ordered them for a try. And to be completely honest, they perfectly fit the seat rails. Great seat support as well as protection for the carpet! http://www.mustangmonthly.com/howto/mump_0803_vintage_mustang_carpet_replacement/mustang_carpet.html Plenty of cool US vintage rides in France: classics, rods, drags, road racers, you find everything! And most of them are in fairly decent shape.
  7. Finished cleaning leather and install of front seats yesterday. It's nice to be able to sit in my car again, even though the steering wheel is not back yet.
  8. Good choice!! I have leather as well and I love it. Had it custom made so that it looks exactly like stock seats. The smell itself justifies it...
  9. Some progress today. Sound system is done. Had a lot of fun doing this, and I can't wait to test it! Front and rear speakers + woofer in the trunk are all amplified, which should provide decent quality sound. Once the dash is on, it will be low key. The box in the trunk is super stealth, I love it! Also started the front with the headlights. That actually reminded me why the 69 is my favorite model year... Those headlights are an absolute Killer!!
  10. Thank you Sir. Car will be going back to France with the rest of the family!
  11. You could replace your lenses and lightbulb covers? It would probably brighten up a little while keeping your original cluster. Sliding in some white faces helps as well, for a slightly modified look. And all this for a very reasonable budget. Just my 2 cents based on my personal experience. G
  12. Thanks for the nice comments, guys! @Chillininnh: I think you're right, it looks like some kind of mod. I might just take advantage of it and custom install a trunk courtesy light. I might be able to run wires for a switch through the hinge. More to follow.
  13. I do not have a clue. Got the car like this. I always had it taped to avoid water to flow into the trunk. I thought it might be for a switch, like the ones for the courtesy lights in the door jambs. You open the trunk and the light in the deck above switches on. Something of that nature. I don't know.
  14. Some progress today. - doors are back on, not adjusted yet. I got very poor quality door weatherstrips, and once the doors were on the car, it just didn't fit the bill. I had to take them off. I'm gonna have to find some much better quality. - put a new windshield in! This time I am going to be extra careful with the molding install.
  15. I personally used Dynamat for the sound deadening only, with partial coverage (roof, floors, quarter panels). If you use Dynamat, you have to seal the sides of all the material with some aluminum tape. It will prevent it from oozing all over the place. It's a little time consuming, but the result is really clean and tight. Without the tape: Nice and sealed: Hope this helps! G
  16. Now I would like to ask you guys a question: I have identified a connector coming out of the under dash wiring harness, color coded green w/ yellow stripe, as the power for the trunk light. I've never had a trunk light on that car. However, it seems that everything's ready for install. Can someone show me what it looks like and how it is installed? Is there a specific harness between the trunk and the dash for this?
  17. Also installed the new trunk mat in there. Looks great. I personally hate the stock mats replacements. I had that before, but they look real cheap and don't fit well, IMO.
  18. And I put all the rear trim and bench seat back in. Looks clean and smells nice!
  19. Made very good progress tonight, and it's only Friday night! Started by replacing the letters on the deck lid. My originals' chrome was not looking nice enough on that brand new paint. S. Drake repos are absolutely beautiful and fit a lot better than my originals. Original: Repo:
  20. Yep, he's a lucky little man! I hope your kids will enjoy some garage time with their Dad!
  21. A little French man born in America! (on a USAF Air Base as well...)
  22. But they are doing this, aren't they? Lol Don't get me wrong, I did spend several thousand dollars with CJ these last couple years. Especially during the sales periods. But they really take longer than the others to ship your order...
  23. What I don't like about CJ: - always says free shipping when it's actually already factored in the price (notice how every thing is $10-$15 more expensive than other sellers (MU, NPD...)? - they take twice longer to ship out your orders. What I love about CJ: - their website and videos are great. You get the best explanations about each part. So I figure the parts I need using CJ´s web site, and most of the time, buy it some place else. G
  24. Got the deck lid done tonight. Painter's signature is very cool and stealth, I think. Trevor Morrisson's the name. Putting the weatherstrip on was easy, thanks to all the info I found here on the forum. I bought it before I read all that and was wary about the quality I got. It turns out I got a very decent product (beginner's luck?) and was able to close the lid without issues. It will now stay closed for 24 hrs, to allow it to set properly. Fitting the lid snug was another story! Took me an hour to get a fairly decent result. Man, I can't wait to get on the doors and fenders...
