  1. Love the color. I was into the foxes for a while but not so much anymore. They were/are real cheap to build and upgrade for performance and I liked them for that reason alone. I never cared much for their looks as they really don't "look" like a mustang to me. Even so, I had a 79 indy pacecar version I owned twice, an 86 coupe, 81 hatch and 80 coupe. I always liked that swooping widebody kit that was available at one time. I even looked for a year to find one but couldn't locate one. That'd be the only reason I'd buy another. I still have some fox parts in the garage I'll be putting up on craigslist this week.
  2. Pak, I understand the apprehension but I've learned to be patient so down time is not an issue for me. Mine last moved under its own power in 1990. I almost had it on the road again in 92. I ended up tearing it down again cause I wanted some things done right and its been sitting since. I had to shelf the project for a while due to family needs and I picked up other stangs to drive here and there. Over the past year I've been working on it alot and was looking forward to it possibly moving under its own power again later this year till the investment company that owned my employer sold off the company assets to an out-of-state company 2 months ago. Bye bye job. While I'm off it is getting some attention but I can't spend any money on it. Believe me, I'm not saying I wouldn't be massively bummed out if someone trashed it cause I would but I think I'd probably just pick up the pieces and start rebuilding it again after some mourning time.
  3. I've had 14 mustangs since my first in high school 30 years ago. My current 69 I've had since 83. I've never had any issues with modifying one. My plans for the 69 are here: http://forums.stangnet.com/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=2367. I enjoy a nice restored original but I like modified versions better. I probably would even do minor but reversable mods on a boss or mach but not go wild like I am with mine (2 option car - 302 & tinted glass). However my desire for modding is based on my desire to make or otherwise fabricate. In my case, I'm not changing the body lines cause I feel that's a big part of the cars character (hence why I don't like a cowl hood on a 69 or 70). I'm also maintaining the dash design though modifying it some. My 69 has survived several moves and a bankruptcy along with other hard times (including my present unemployment) where I've sold off my other mustangs so this one's not going anywhere while I'm still alive. These cars were meant to be driven and I do lose some respect for someone who never or rarely drives theirs. I look at it like there's nothing that can't be replaced or repaired so why worry about it, DRIVE IT!
  4. You're right, I didn't think of that. On a side note, my son called yesterday afternoon from Kuwait and was asking about the newer mustangs. He's wanting to buy a new car when he returns this summer. Previously he had been considering other cars but is now thinking of an 09 or 10 mustang and wants me to check them out with him when he comes home.
  5. Looks like it sucks to be that kid. His insurance probably dropped him for causing them to replace the new camaro. On the OP, I don't hate any of them. I read the reviews and was not surprised. I kinda think that ford has been conservative on their engine development which is why the lower engine performance. I mean the big three have been having issues for several years now and of the three they're in the better shape though still hurting. Maybe a direct relation to the money spent in R&D. It'd just be nice if the mustangs had a hotter engine performance wise than they have.
  6. Be sure to disconnect the shift linkage at the transmission then unbolt the shifter and lay it aside. That gets the linkage out of your way. FYI, I've always pulled the trans by myself by sliding under it and sliding it out of the hole and resting it on my chest then rolling out from under the car. That's just me though and I recommend a helper and a jack if possible.
  7. All I have is Serif Photo Plus 8.0, a basic photo editing program and no skills other than crop, resize and some basic clean-up. Sorry, no help here.

  9. The frame is the same between them and even with the cougars. I'm pretty sure the foam is the same too. You should be able to just get the 69 mach 1 upholstery. I recently sold the 70 cougar seats I had in my mustang. The only difference was the pleating on the cougar's is vertical where the mustang's is horizontal. Verify with one of the big parts vendors on the foam though. edit: I forgot the location of the release handle is different between cougars & mustangs.

  11. A minute or so on the site and it looks like its $195+ shipping.
  12. Or you could modify your stock one according to the Boss 302 Chassis Modification book and save a few bucks.
  13. It does looks pretty close, not sure if it'll clear or not. I have been thinking of doing my design but using your mounting method. I really like your mounting idea of a seperate panel mounted to the original panel. I may go that route.
  14. Finally got around to taking some pics of what I have so far.
  15. Pics? Sounds like a late 70s 302.
  16. Wow, really nice work! I'm doing something similar but I'm replacing the gauge panel with a fiberglass panel. I'm making a mold plug from an old 70 panel and will make a panel from that mold. I started with a flat surface in the center for the tach & speedo. There is a panel flanking each side of the center & slightly angled back for four 2-1/16 gauges. A flat surface runs above the gauge surfaces for turn & bright indicators. I'll have to post some pics of what I have done so far.
  17. Found the video online. http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/KeithUrban/Sweet-Thing--205807866
  18. Anyone seen the video. When I woke up this morning CMT was on the tv (my wife leaves the tv on all night). I was laying there and the song came on and I noticed a 69 sportsroof featured in the video. I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't see it real well. It appears the car is a part of the life events in the song. Pretty cool video I think.
  19. That's a very general question. What are you planning to do with the car? Street cruising only? How wide a rim? Tire size? There are many things you can do suspension-wise. At one end of the spectrum is replacing components with stock replacements and at the other end complete custom setups front & rear and everything in between. Front bushing upgrades, stock style but improved components, front coilovers, strut conversions, MII IFS, unequal a-arms. Rear coilovers, several versions of 3-link, several versions of 4-link, IRSs, various leaf upgrades. Best to do seaches on several forums to help figure out what suits you best.

    69 stang wreck

I copied the pic and was scutinizing it and was thinking the same. The quarters look to me like they sperated form the inners, probably missing some solid metal connection. Also looking at the condition of the seat and steering wheel and comparing that with the windshield and missing roof. If a cable took off the roof, you would think you'd see some sort of damage to the seat. Noticed something else. The nose all missing yet the hood appears completely untouched. If the hood popped up before the front end damage it would have folded back on the windshield & roof. Happened to me in my 68 @ 45mph.
  21. http://www.lokar.com/interior_pages/ebrakes.htm It seems to me there was an article in Mustangs & Fords (I think) (now Modified Mustangs) a while back about adapting a fox body e-brake setup to a classic. Can't recall the issue, might find it on their website though. This is my plan.
  22. Don't know about any repro pieces. I replaced my broken assembly with one from a parts car. I'm going with a trans tunnel e-brake when I get to that point in my build. Could be an option for you or I could snap some pics of mine if you're interested in a stock assembly.
