Hi All, I'm tossing around the idea of painting my coupe black with silver striping and tail light panel. Same basic scheme as what's on it now, just silver where it's black and black where it's blue.

    Thanks Shaun

SA69mach, you've talked about the bump steer kit shifting the tie rod end placement and it's effect on steering ratio. It got me thinking about the differences between mustang and aussie falcon/fairlane spindles. The aus spindles are basically the same as 68-73 disc brake spindles but are 3/8" taller. This alters geometry similar to half a traditional shelby drop. Where it gets interesting is the difference between falcon and fairlane/falcon wagon spindles. The tie rod placement is different to give more ackerman angle for the long wheelbase cars. There's been a lot of discussion on mustang forums here about which is the better spindle but the general consensus is use a matched pair from the same donor car. Most guys use the aussie spindles for an easily available disc brake upgrade and don't even think about the steering side of the deal. More ackerman angle is a common drift car mod, makes the car easier to flick sideways and easier to keep it in a slide. I've got mustang, aus falcon and fairlane spindles here and can compare tie rod placement. I was planning on using the fairlane spindles myself but my coupe is a long way from the road. Maybe someone with more suspension knowledge can chime in here with any ideas on the ackerman angle changes?

Are the 70 disc spindles hard to find? The reason I ask is here in Aus we have the Falcon spindles easy to find- almost a throw away item. Use the same balljoints, tie rod ends and bearings as the 70 spindle. They are 3/8" taller than a Mustang spindle and are the most commonly used spindle here if you want disc brakes. A stock KH caliper and disc bolts on.

I'm wondering whether it would be worth shipping spindles to the states if there was enough interest from guys over there and shipping wasn't too high. Alloy calipers were a stock fitment on some models and are dime a dozen too

Got the exhaust done on the truck. Happy with the result but now I think the 2 barrel manifold with 4 barrel Holley is truly showing how much of a bottle neck it is. It feels like it is really holding it back now. So that'll be the next addition.

Some crappy phone pics and a sound clip. However I did make it extra crappy by shaking it and then blowing the phone over by accident with the exhaust. I did spook the wife twice though, ha!

    Yes they do haha.
Hoppers mention using a modded VN Commodore cable if using the original foot brake so I might look at that. They want $250 for their cable 8(.

    Hi All,
I've been lurking on the forum for a year or so and decided it was time to start a build thread. I've always been a Mustang and Ford fan, owning many Aussie Fords over the years and this is my first Mustang. Unlike most people, the birth of my first child was the trigger for getting a Stang. I owned a 2002 Falcon XR8 ute (like a modern Ranchero) thats a great ride but didn't have enough seats for a family. After looking at getting a newish XR6 or XR8 sedan, as a joke I said to my wife "A Mustang has 4 seats, perfect for a family and won't depreciate like a new car". I couldn't believe it when my lovely lady took me seriously and the search was on!! I found a reasonable 69 coupe on the Gold Coast here in Queensland looked it over and made it mine Now the work begins.

There were parts missing and some rust in the floors but all in all not a bad car and very restorable.
    It's currently fitted with
    302 windsor
    C4 auto
    9 inch 3.25 ratio rear
    power steering
    Manual drum brakes all round

Long term plans are for a 5.0 roller engine, AOD, 3.5 LSD, front and possibly rear disc brakes, air con and maybe power windows. At the moment I'm just working on getting the floors done, Australian compliance work (seat belts, child restraints and headlights) and getting it registered and enjoying it as a daily drive.
