  1. Hey Everyone, I am having a situation with my clutch. I have the 69 Sportsroof with a FE 390 stroked out to a 445 ci. I have the Quick Time bell housing 6056, T-5 tranny and a McLeod 12" ceramic disc clutch and a McLeod pressure plate. Everything works as I have drove it about 5 miles. My problem is the clutch is not releasing. I believe I will wear out the clutch much faster then normal. I have the Modern Driveline cable set up. I have been talking with the engine builder and Modern Drive Line but no luck yet. I am calling McLeod tomorrow morning to get more factory specs to make sure the cable and clutch are compatible. Anyone run into this problem or have the same set up? Thanks Mark
  2. I tighten down the coil springs and tapped the top of the spring about 1/2" and it aligned the springs. Thanks to all for the input. Mark
  3. I have used Auto Instruments (Gentry) to redo all my gauges in my 73 Mach 1 and 69 Sportsroof. There all excellent and work perfect. Gentry can refer you a couple of re chroming places. Mark
  4. Thanks everyone. I noticed today the top part of the spring is off center about 3/8". It is closer to the tire side then the engine compartment. I will try and move it to the center of the top of the shock tower opening tomorrow. Mark
  5. My 69 Sportsroof was 90% done but still needs an exhaust system. I had my 73 Mach 1 up there. I have been going for the last 13 years and won for the last 12 years. Its a great show and beautiful mountain town.mark
  6. The motor is installed. Best I can tell the perch and the stop are correct. How do I tell if the top of the spring is positioned correctly? It looked a little off centered. It's hard to get pics because of the flash. The ride height is OK. I thought it was about 1" to tall with the Shelby drop. I will get pics of the spring top and download tomorrow. Thanks for all the good info. Mark
  7. I took the tire and shock off today. Here are some pics of the springs and perch.
  8. I did have the springs powder coated. I know he bakes it for 45 mins or so at 400 degrees. Could this be the problem?
  9. We were there. Great car show and weather. We have been going for the last 13 years and look forward every summer. Mark
  10. I believe the spring perches are installed correctly. I didn't do that part of it. How would I tell if they are? Thanks Mark
  11. With the tires on the ground, the front coil springs bow out toward the tires. The shocks are right against the other side of the coil springs. Everything is stock except for the 1" Shelby drop. Thanks
  12. I will check in the morning. The car in at a local automotive shop. Thanks
  13. Hi Everyone, I am finishing the restoration on my 69 Sporstroof. I changed out the 351W for a FE 390. I have stock suspension and steering with KYB shocks. I have the 428 springs. All new parts across the board. I did the 1" Shelby drop. I noticed that when the car is on the ground both springs are bowed in the middle. Any suggestions on the cause and the fix. Thanks Mark
  14. I am looking for the lower quarter panels for my 69 Sportsroof with the fold down rear seat. I have the upper corner panels. Thanks Mark
  15. Thanks for all the information. I am looking at beefing up the internals of the WC T-5. Thanks Mark
  16. Hey everyone, I am putting a WC T-5 behind my FE 390. My questions is will I have to do any alterations to the transmission tunnel? A friend of mine says the WC T-5 might be wider. Thanks Mark
  17. I have been going to Colorado Mustang for over twelve years. Very knowledgeable and has a junk yard with over 1000 cars. Been in business since mid 70's. They don't allow people in the yard. Dan owns it, his son Adam works there and Mike is the guy to deal with on the 66 - 73 mustangs. They don't have good reviews online, but I rather make my own business contacts. I have established a great relationship with them. If you go there tell them Mark Perry recommends them.
  18. My friend (Eric) and I will be there. He will have a metallic brown 72 Fastback and I will have my white with black vinyl top 73 Mach 1. Stop by and say "Hi" Mark
  19. The best shop I have found in Denver is Autotek (Contact Bob or Don) 7939 E Arapahoe Rd (just west if I-25 & Arapahoe) Englewood CO 80111 303-290-9900 They fixed my electrical, carb, timing and etc They do a lot of older cars Just let them know that Mark with the white Mach 1 referred you
  20. I would recommend a shop in Brighton called Fine Line Restoration (Hans). He painted my 73 Mach 1 and just painted my 69 Sportsroof. Another is Porter Body Shop in Englewood (Wayne) Mark
  21. Thanks Grabber70Mach. What is your reference. Great photos. Thanks alot Mark
  22. Thanks for all the great responses. My friend says the bleeder valve has to be up in order to properly bleed the brakes. Makes sense. Thanks Mark
  23. A friend of mine is telling me that I have the front disc brakes on the wrong side. The 69 Sportsroof had drum brakes all around. I upgraded the front to disc. He says I should flip flop the disc so the bleeder valve is pointed upward and not horizontally. I looked at my 73 Mach 1 and the disc/bleeder valves are the same position Thanks Mark
  24. Thanks Mike That is the one I need. They do give the sizes in the full description and it a perfect match. It will be interesting to see who makes it. Thanks again Mark
