If you catch the inside rail like this (from Accessible Systems), it is very secure side to side. Pick a couple of spots where you can drill holes and bolt and I wouldnt think twice about trailering. Examples would be the front of the rear spring perches, and maybe the steering box and idler arm bolt holes for example.
  2. Impressive... but a little pricey for me. Well, I had pictures but was given this message: "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing. If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error." It's a new Ford Racing Crate 351W based 460! 575hp, 560ftlb! $13495 Go to StangTV for the best info I found so far. Along with info on the new 5.0L Cobra Jet Intake http://www.stangtv.com/features/pri-coverage/pri-2012-frpps-coyote-cobra-jet-intake-manifold-new-crate-engines/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=pri-2012-frpps-coyote-cobra-jet-intake-manifold-new-crate-engines <!-- / main error message -->
  3. Solidedge has some powerful patterning. Solidworks is probably the simplest for the power. NX is powerful but still building, so many command gui's borrowed from Solidege, Legacy features, Synchronous, Sheet metal, etc makes things overly complicated. I have personally initiated several bug fixes or enhancement requests. I do have some nice looking, color rendered, exploded view assembly drawings that I have put out with it though!

  5. Finally caught a run of this over the weekend and recorded it with the dvr. They estimate that there was $75 million in cars there. Amazing to hear and see!

  7. Lay down a guide coat in a contrasting color, lt gray, white, yellow, etc then long board the hood by hand to help show those low areas. If you see anyone skimming a large area hopefully its a poly finishing glaze. On the shaker trim anything flexible will crack the paint. You could bond it with a Sems product. The only thing I will use on scoops and such for blending is a Kevlar filler by Evercoat. It bonds with metal and fiberglass and allows differences in expension and contraction. Not sure I would do this on the shaker trim but its an option if you really want to go that route.

  9. Still looking. Thanks to Shelby and Kris for looking. Come on guys, this build is my wifes Christmas present!
  10. I would agree. Should be 11" 1 1/16 10 spline
  11. Sorry, used a spline to arc conversion macro. Have thousands of small arcs now but it is laser cuttable. I use NX8 and Keycreator at work. I also have access to SolidEdge and Geomagic. At home I have Autocad, Keycreator and ChiefArchitect. I Havent had time to do anything else with it. Thanks
  12. I thought of taking a double, drilling the spot welds, and making a single (or two, lol) but I do have a couple more weeks to find one. Trying to finish the engine for Christmas for my wife. Please let me know.
  13. I can by a chrome repro for $25 with free shipping but... While this car is far from concourse it is all original metal so why put a repro bracket or pulley on? So, I am looking for a decent (not pitted rusty) original for reasonable $ for my wifes car... did a generator to alternator conversion and Ford changed the pulley offsets slightly. I can sandblast, prime and paint. 6.125 dia x 2-3/8 offset C5AE-8509B
  14. Quite sure they are 114.3mm (4.5") as stated but the offset of the wheels is different. Here's another link. I was a big Falcon FB fan for a while. http://www.fordforums.com.au
  15. Well today I worked on the 65 not the 70 but I will post. Finishing up engine. On Friday I installed timing cover, balancer, dipstick, water pump, fuel pump and oil pan. Today I did the alternator, intake & valve covers. Had to quit early for daughters birthday party but it's coming along nicely! Playing on the K code color scheme with my own twist on this one.
  16. The hurricane is now officially a tropical typhoon. But it has merged with another front and is a noreaster by New England standards. I am far enough north it shouldnt be too bad. 60mph winds and heavy rain we have seen before. The noreaster will make it stick around longer though. wild that at the center they messured the lowest barametric pressure on land of any Atlantic storm on record. Most of the leaves are off the trees so hopefully less will fall on the powerlines. There are certainly many less lucky than we are thats for sure. Be safe.
  17. All classic car value guides follow the same basic rating scales. With 167k, no pictures and "I have some new parts for it," I am guessing it's condition 4. 1EXCELLENT/SHOW CAR A masterpiece, this perfect original car is in the same condition it was in when delivered new or better; or a professionally-restored car that has been restored to new or better than new condition. This car is not driven, and is transported to shows in an enclosed trailer. Normally stored in a secured, temperature and humidity controlled environment when not being shown, this car would be expected to come within a point or two of a perfect score when judged by professionals using current criteria. 2FINE An original car with very low miles that has been meticulously maintained since new; or an older professional restoration that has seen very limited use since restoration. Very close inspection by an expert may detect almost insignificant flaws or wear, but to most enthusiasts the car would look perfect. This car would come within several points of a perfect score when judged, and would receive the top award at a show unless a true Number 1 car were also being judged. 3VERY GOOD A well-maintained original car that has been driven limited miles over the years; is completely operable with all equipment working as designed, and at first glance may look perfect; or an older restoration that has been driven limited miles since the restoration was completed, and is showing minor wear and tear from being on display at car shows. Closer inspection may reveal minor wear on parts susceptible to showing wear, such as brake and gas pedals, and some thinning of paint and chrome finishes may also be noticed. 4GOOD Major components function properly, and the vehicle is completely safe to drive but may need minor repairs to mechanical systems. No parts are missing, but this car has been driven on a regular basis and may need a paint job and a few trim pieces rechromed or replaced. Amateur restorations usually fall into this category, as do very old professional restorations that have deteriorated due to use and exposure to the elements. 5RESTORABLE May or may not be running; everything on the car needs to be restored; may be missing minor parts, but the major components are there. Any body damage due to collision or rust should be minor; some surface rust may appear, but no holes should be present. The car is structurally sound, but needs cosmetic updating to paint, upholstery and top material, as well as repairs to various mechanical components. 6PARTS CAR Probably not running well, if at all; missing some major as well as minor parts; may have serious body damage due to wreck or rust through. Soft trim and rubber parts are most likely completely ruined from weathering and exposure. This vehicle needs many parts and has deteriorated to the point of not being a good candidate for restoration. The above was copied from http://automotivemileposts.com/rating.html
  18. These places are extinct due to liability I imagine. Cool though! In college we had a student garage and a Motorsports Club. Amazing they let us do what we did until 1990 the schools insurance company shut it down. We had drag races, road course races in the parking lots, I personally did an engine swap, a rear end swap and some pretty heavy body work in there on three different cars. Most people that have the skills learned from a friend or relative and use their place. But thing change and people move and lost their place to wrench. I would suggest a serious business plan, a good talk with a lawyer and a commercial insurer. The business plan woul require some poles of local college kids for example to get some real numbers. I would also consider different rates based on terms. Hour, weekend, week, long term, etc. Better to have a full bay at a lower rate that pays the overhead then an empty bay. I love the idea but I would never run one or use one at this point in my life. I would rent a paint bay however! All the best
  19. I have had an oem metal solid blade come apart (mopar) but never a flex fan. I ran a flex fan with the best cooling results from it on my 302 Fox body for 19 yrs. My wifes 65 289 came with one too, rebuilt in 86.
  20. There is a boat load of vacuum lines for the factory ac (see line kit attached) but the onethat comes to mind is the one that goes to the vacuum servo that helps move the defroster door.
  21. Think it was an error. The 69 std two tone door panels are $110. Those are $449 on TMI's site! Worth a BIN shot!
  22. They make plugs that I have seen on survivor cars. Cant guarantee all cars got the plugs but I know all of them had the holes. They didnt use progressive tooling based on options when they built these.
