Rsanter 152 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 I need a new trunk mat, but what do I get? The original for the early cars is a rubber pad with a pattern on it. But what is correct for the 69s? The repo in it now is old and ugly and one of the cheap ones, it has to go. I see the burned material, but what is that? Who makes the best one? 1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 Try National Parts Depot. I got mine from them. It was their more expensive type that is supposed to be like the original.
Dave R. 85 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 I believe the grey speckled pattern is the original. ACC makes it but they don't retail. Going through one of the big Mustang parts warehouses is the way to go. Dave R.
Rsanter 152 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 But is the original rubber backed? Felt backed? Do they make one that is show/concourse correct? Bob
Dave R. 85 Report post Posted April 21, 2016 It is sheet vinyl I think. You can view their products on their website you just can't order. IIRC my source at ACC told me that a Shelby restoration shop, I forget the name of the shop, near St. Louis buys ACC mats to put in their Shelby's. Lay it in the sun for a few minutes to make it easier to work with. Dave R.
Mach1 Driver 560 Report post Posted April 22, 2016 Attached are pictures from my original mat. The top has a pretty good area that was folded over and not subjected to the junk thrown in the trunk. The bottom looks like felt. The original color is while/gray/black but has been discolored through contact with the original petroleum based sound deadener.
