stangs-R-me 121 Report post Posted October 31, 2014 Can't say I've ever seen this before, but there is an article in the MyFord magazine I got recently. There is a picture of a real nice '69 Grande with the pony & corral in the middle of the grill. It is formed to the pointed grill, so it can't just have been borrowed from an earlier model. Was this maybe a Ford Accessory ?? Here is a link if you have not seen it ... http://www.myfordmag.com/faces/gates-origin-story-mustang Doug

Snookman35 10 Report post Posted November 5, 2014 Is it just my old eyes or is the chrome moulding around the grill gone too?
stangs-R-me 121 Report post Posted November 6, 2014 Is it just my old eyes or is the chrome moulding around the grill gone too? I thought the same thing, but maybe it is just the camera angle / lighting. In the paper mag they mentioned going online to read more about the owner and this car. Was hoping there would be more pics too, but could not find anything more that what was in the paper copy. Doug

rangerdoc 22 Report post Posted November 7, 2014 Different. When I first look at it and focus on just the inner lights it reminds me of a '71.
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) So is that really his car or a stock photo? My guess is that it's a JC Whitney type of customer add on. A lot of folks missed the horse and corral back then when it first switched, I could swear I've seen one that lights up as well (yuck). I have also seen, on another Grande oddly enough, a hood ornament of a galloping pony which was for sure a JC Whitney offering. EDIT: This made me want to hunt down the hood ornament which I found the old thread for but seems my recall is starting to fail me a little. I only remembered seeing it on a Grande because that's what I chose to photochop it onto, LOL. It was originally just a part for sale on ebay. http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=4720 EDIT II: Sometimes being a pakrat is a good thing, found the original pic from the ad in my chop folder.
