mag sloted rims aluminum tire question

Recommended Posts

Was reading a book aboutmuscle cars and i felt in love with them, they really looked nice

Front is a 7x14

Back is a 8x14

What tires are you runing on them?

Would 195 80 14 front

225 70 14 back

Do the trick?

Currently i have the bullit 17 inch and done the shelby drop

very pleased with the results

15X8.5 rears with 275/50-15 bfg drag radials and 14x6 fronts 205/70-14s.

you can get 15x9s with enough back spacing to tuck the 275s that are 11.75 wide now. im havin a hard time not geting a set!

Why you would want to go down to a 14" tire? You're extremely limited in the tires available anymore. And depending on what brakes you are running, you could have an issue with the brake caliper hitting the rim if you have disk brakes.

Maxum96, I'm thinkin he fell in love with the look. Sounds like a good enough reason to me. After all, isn't that why we drive the cars we do?

I get that. That's the beauty of being able to customize your car. It's just the OP inquiring about 14" wheels. I should have added that I would suggest 15" wheels instead of the 14" wheels.

I got them on a great deal, call it a barn find, the only original owner made me swear to restore them, I ve seen this on trucks or jeeps, I was so wrong about the looks, the brand is rocket racing BTW , I know about wheel limitations and disk brakes, for wheels they still gonna make the sizes they posted here, as for the disk conv I can always go with the acura racing disks, this car is not gonna do races or heavy abuse, plan to do it trip car, as for they 17 I have I really hate them, ☺

I run 'em on my vert. I don't recall the tire size but I'll look it up.

edit: I went with 215/70-14 BF Goodrich all around, which is very close to the F70-14 tires back in the day. They're the tires in my sig. As previously mentioned, your selection is very limited in 14" tires.

So smaller in the front not a good idea?

Oh, no, it's a fine idea. When I was younger, before the resto, I always ran fatter on the rear. Nowadays, on a vert, I like the balanced look. It's all personal preference.

☺ this idea was confirmed when we went for a coupe that had ss crager 14 rims for a friend, it reallly looked mean, at least that was my impresion , when i started to look for pics on oldschool musclecars on books I found about mag wheels.

Right now im on vacations visiting my sister and did a small search and some one was sellingn them cheap on a farm, visited the guy and he was like 20 years older than me, he invited me to the house and we started to talk about cars he was amazed that I knew some stuff (thanks to this forum) he started to talk about torinos, rancheros and mustangs,, he knew that i was really interested for the rims but instead of rising the price ol leaving it at 200 he cut the half out with out bargain on the price, he just ask me to restore them and wanted to see them on a car again rolling on the street cause the had been stored for decades on a shelf,i got a more that day for my money plus have some rims with history insted of just ordering a pair of newones from the web :)

I had a set on a 68 J code GT Coupe I had back in the 80's.

When I was running the slotted wheels on the 68 GT Coupe I had wider wheels in the rear, a lot wider then the fronts. :001_cool: I loved that look.

Best thing ive ever done to this car, steering is awesome with the 195/75/14, the wheels are feather weight compared to the bullits, love the new looks
