I hear this and have had 4 stangs and

never heard that term used (fastback) sun roof lost!!!!

Somebody correct me if I wrong but I belive it was Ford who used the term Sportsroof beginning in 69 referring to the fastback. You'll find the reference in many of the shop manuals.

 

Yeah, I know, it was not a term i was acustomed to either as I more commonly refer to Fastbacks as Fastbacks. The use of the term sportroof is only used when speaking "techncially"

Notice the 69-73 sportroof have quarter windows....unlike the 65-68 fastback. I vaguely recall someone saying that is where the difference is, but it's probably just Ford trying to keep the car fresh by using new words. We humans get tired of the same old thing rather quickly.

67-68 fastback

69-70 sportsroof
