Ash's 69 R-code

It's a 4.25 stroker which uses the 6.700 Chevy rods. Depending what pistons I use, not sure yet what they will be as I don't want to go crazy oversize as it's a standard bore and some brands don't start until .030 over. It'll be around the 461 cubes of goodness!

Hey Ash I'm happy I found your thread! When I first saw the car you were taking home on page 1 I couldn't believe there were 48 more pages after it. Regardless of the skeletons you've found in her, you are doing it right and she will be restored to her former glory one day soon. Keep up the great work. On another note, I'm glad your daughter is doing well and hanging in there.

I appreciate that very much, thank you! She is doing very well and things seem to be going as best as can be. The surgery caught it at the right time and she is growing up a very confident and smart little thing. Very proud of her!

Yes, 48 pages but a lot of chit chat and gibberish too. But I have gone from knowing nothing about Mustangs to knowing every bolt in my car. I've learnt a lot!

I did get something done yesterday with my Dad for the Mustang. We put in a hard line for the air compressor to try and eliminate moisture. We got roughly 40 feet between the air compressor and outlet for the spray gun with a couple of water traps along the way. Hopefully this helps a lot when it comes time to pull the trigger. I have a couple of other painting jobs to do before that so it will have a good test first.

The copper pipe will help with moisture in the air. A larger air compressor will also help with moisture in the air. Another thing I did was to place a fan to blow cool air onto the compressor pump to help cool the air out of it.

Cheers, Craig. A larger compressor would be nice. I can have a go at running two compressors as I have access to another just a tad smaller than my one.

Running a fan would be an easy addition, thanks for the heads up on that one!

Still haven't done anything to the car except walk past it. But it got a few presents today.

The new Fast EZ-EFI 2.0 system. I went with the in-tank fuel pump and dual sync distributor. This thing is good for 1200hp. Not that I'll be near that but I should be around the halfway mark so it should support it well

This is the EFI carb, it has 8 internal injectors

This is the control panel, it's about the same size as a small smart phone.

Also got my new piston kit

Next step is to get the block and rotating assembly off to the machine shop.

No I did not I was just wondering as I am now starting to look for an S 390, R or Q Code 428 car myself.

Also please check your PM.

Thank you.

Cool. I've sent you an email.

Very envious ! Good to see you Ash. Doing the engine work soon or down the road ?

Hey Stangnet! I'll be getting the block and rotating assembly off to the machine shop once I have the cash to do so. This last purchase was a big one and took me quite some time to save it up. The rest are a lot smaller so it will take less time to get to each goal from here on. Once I get the block back, I really can start making some steps forward.

It's too cold here to paint now. Nothing like what you guys get but cold for this side of the world. And I have too much other stuff on anyway to get into the bodywork. In a few months that should change.

You been doing much on yours? My brother is actually in your neck of the woods at the moment, so to say. He's doing some traveling through Alaska then up past the treeline to some remote place. Not exactly on your door step but it took him 40 hours of on and off planes to get there.

I guess it's your winter time ? I'm starting to pick up the pace on mine. Done more in the past couple of weeks then the past 10 yrs lol, but it's our nice time of the year supposedly (been raining none stop for the past week or so). Hope your brother gets some decent weather up there. If he hits Alberta he can look me up if you want. I'll be starting my build thread in the coming days.

Yep, winter time here. But our winter is probably a warm version of your summer.

Just had a look where you are and I'm pretty sure my brother is going much further north. I think hopping over Canada in both directions of travel. But thanks for the offer :thumbup1: I do know he is going to stay with lady that has never seen a tree before. Which is kind of hard to comprehend.

Look forward to following your build thread, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Brought myself a T56 today to go in the 69. The T56 is wrapped in a 06 Ford Falcon BF XR6. Very happy to have finally managed to score one of these, they don't come up often here in Aus and cost a fortune to buy on their own. I'll keep the trans and part out the rest of the car to recoup my money.

Why do you guys get cars we don't get, Bob?

I would give my left one for a late model F150 or F250. You can buy them for pocket change there but here, clapped out ones start around the 50k mark. New ones are well over 100k.

It's the same deal with Mustangs. Until Ford bring them here for next year, up until then they have been stupidly over priced. It costs more to get them here and have them converted to RHD (about 40K), than what the car costs to buy.

That's quite funny as my wife says she would love a dual cab truck too. It's only the silly price they get to why she doesn't have one.

I just sold my F150, the one with my dog out the window in my avatar. Miss it already but it didn't have enough seats being a single cab. I replaced it with this. Had it for about 6 months now and I love it. It's got a great exhaust note and tows great. But I miss having a ute.

The only thing I know about the XR6 is the minor damage to the front. That's all the info I got. I haven't seen it in person yet, I will next week when I pick it up. But it looks clean and has good k's.

I've only spent time behind the wheel in one 6 speed manual car and that was my Dad's FG XR6 N/A ute. It went great, like you said, for a stock 4.0.

Weird stuff indeed. I guess I'm not smart enough to know why the F series is the best seller in America, but Ford couldn't make a rhd that would sell in Oz. There are more full size four door full size pickups here of all brands than you can shake a sick at. Weird.

I was really hoping that one of the F series would become one of Fords new "Global" models, but it didn't happen. It's great that we are getting the Mustang, it means they will be a realistic price and not only for those spending their kids inheritance. But I can't see myself getting one. With my little kids usually by my side and already owning two of the classics, I doubt I'd get away with another for a daily run around.

When I heard we were getting the Mustang I gave my wife my best pleading eyes but was told I already HAVE a Mustang and when does she get her F150!! With one toddler and another due in 6 weeks we need a big wagon. Our Territory was heavily rear ended 2 days ago so we may be in the market for another family truckster soon.

It still surprises me that Ford USA didn't pick up the Aussie Falcon and Territory. Big comfy reasonably economical and RWD!!!!

There are some interesting varients of cars the world over. One that sticks out are the Escorts of the 1976-80 model years that never made it to the states. I had a RS2000 Ford Escort when I lived in the Philippines and that was an awesome rear wheel drive car. They were used quite a bit for Rally cars then and even now. These little cars were nimble, quick, could take a beating and they looked good too. I also seeing some of the old Chevy UTE's that were brought upfrom Australia as well.

One of my brothers mates had one of those Ford Escorts, Zipppo. It was a panel van but it had a rotary engine in it. Boy was it a fast car. They are so light and with that kind of power to the rear wheels, the rear end was all over the place. Lots of fun!

Got the T56 home and had a short drive, it feels great. Low km, well looked after car, it should last a long time.

Also ordered a Quicktime bellhousing to suit it to mount it to the FE. It'll take about 2 months to arrive.

I'll figure out what clutch to buy later as it can wait. I'll also get a Hurst shifter for it to suit the Mustang.
