very fat and very dumb 40 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 For the convertible top harness, can someone tell me what protects the wire? My harness is wired this way, wire goes from the starter relay on the firwall to the switch, from the switch to the pump. I don't see a fuse anywhere. Thanks. stangs-R-me 121 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 According to the wiring diagram (PDF below) there should be a FUSE LINK in the wire that connects to the starter relay. Per the diagram the harness is all 12 GA wire which is good for 20 AMPS nominal @ 12VDC (or by length ... 15' = 25A / 10' = 40A). If you wanted to experiment with actual fuses, start with 20A and work your way up to no more than 40A and see what survives. Doug
very fat and very dumb 40 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 Thank you for posting the schematic. Upin closer examination I see a cylindrical object in the harness, maybe 1/2 wide and 2.5 inches long or so right at the starter relay, this must be the fuse link. Thanks again. 70mstang 11 Report post Posted July 5, 2011 There should be a circuit breaker which looks like a little rectangular box that connects directly to the solenoid. Mustangs Unlimited has them n their catalog.
