Update on my project

Recommended Posts

It has been quite a while since I have been around, but here are some pics of my project. I am going to do the undercarriage, detail the engine bay and replace the suspension this year to get it on the road and a nice driver for the summer. I am also doing a Granada disc brake conversion this winter.

Keep on truckin.

You are not the only one cleaning up the engine compartment and front suspension. I too am doing that also.

Might want to exchange notes.

Mine will be a trans-am boss 302 clone.

You're alive?!?!??!?!?! Looks like you've been a busy beaver though bud.

So hows things turning out now that you are digging deep? Finding things as expected? Looks like there are some crappy patch jobs on those shock towers too from the greasing the upper A arms. Don't forget to add 90* fittings to those!!!!

i would highly recommend getting the shock tower reinforcement kit from pro-motorsports.

they also have the 90 degree grease zerks Pak was talking about as well.

the tower kit will greatly enhance the structure of the shock towers and will actually prevent it from getting any worse.

"I would highly recommend getting the shock tower reinforcement kit from pro-motorsports."

I did something similar to that for far less money. First, I purchased the original big block shock tower braces from a member off the Boss302 forum for $50, then welded them in. Second, use 1/4" flat stock metal - $3, to reinforce the outer tower from the channel to the tower at the recommended 45 degree angle as per the boss 302 chassis manual, Next use 1/4" or 5/16" 3" angle iron at 1 1/4" widths- $10, to attach from the channel to the big block shoch tower braces from the inside of the engine compartment. Weld this angle piece in.

So, instead of spending $200 plus shipping, I spent only $63 plus welding wire.

If you didn't find it already these pages have the best shots;

and

I modified the outside supports just a bit to look better and make it easier to clean junk out from under them.

You can see that here:
