Looks great.  Nice looking engine bay. 

I always recommend anyone call Shaun at Street or Track.  He is a great guy to deal with and will give you different options to choose from.  I spoke with him several time before ordering anything from him.  I have his front coil over set up, unisteer power steering set up and disc brake conversion package.  I am 100% happy with everything I bought from him.  He is great to deal with and and I would not hesitate sending anyone there or buying anything else from him. 
 
There are a lot of great options out there for suspension, and they all have their advantages.  I am just giving you my experience.

The one good thing about suspension and brakes for our cars is that there are plenty of options.  I used upgraded mine to all bolt on upgrades and used the Suspension and brake kit from Shaun at Street or Track.  It goes far beyond what I needed and use the car for, but wanted something that I would not have to worry about in the future.  I would call a couple of companies and check out their offerings as well.  They do try to sell you their stuff, but most will give you options depending on what you are going to use the car for and budget.
 
I could not be happier with my set up from SoT and would recommend him and his products to anyone.  I spent a lot of time on the phone with him before buying anything and we talked through all the options and what they all meant for my set up. 
 
My car is lowered quite a bit and have no ride quality issues at all and cars rides great.

Too bad you aren't closer.  I have a set of Chrome 17X8 and 18X10 that I am no longer using since I switches to the black wheels. 
 
Cutouts would be nice.  I thought about those for mine too. 

Like the rims and think it will match with the car well.  I will be honest to say I like the look of the car better without the side pipes.

Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry for the loss of your dad, as I could only imagine not being able to work on this project with him. My dad was my inspiration for getting into cars and I am thankful that we can share time with the car now it is close to being done and drivable again.
 
On to the car. Looks great and love the upgrades. I have a similar motor with the 445 Survival Stroker. Slightly different head and cam package, but with the 5 speed it is a friggen blast to drive. I am sure you can't wait to get it all done, but it will be worth it when it is. Good luck on all the work.

Figured I would post these here first.
 
I changed over to the black wheels that are on the car now, and really have no need for these except taking up room in storage.
 
Rears are 18X10 with Nitto DR's size 305/35/18
Fronts are 17X8 with Summitomo 245/45/17
 
Will need lugs and center caps as I used them with the new wheels.
 
Tires are in great shape, not many miles at all on them. Rear wheel has a couple of nicks on it, but not very noticeable.
 
I am located in NC, will ship them at buyers expense.
