  1. Cowl is not on but I had to throw it on there just to see what my car looked like with a nice cowl, lol.
  2. Im thinking im starting to win the battle a little !
  3. I will need everything to convert to manual. I just took all my power steering components out, which I have everything of other than the power steering pump and hoses. I prefer the cleaner look also of not having all the extra under the hood. Plus I will need all the room I can for the 76mm turbonetics which is going in there somewhere.
  4. Guys that are running manual steering how do you find it? When it comes time to put all my steering back in im thinking about ditching the power for manual....mistake ??? I will be putting a rack in it in the future (winter project) so it seems pointless to buy all new power steering parts to rip it out down the road. Just curious what opinions are on manual.
  5. These guys think they can drift, lol.
  6. Until you watch the top gear event in Barbados, opps, ken rolls his car.
  7. I love the way all the joints just pop right out, lol.
  8. Im with Bob, very nice looking car.
  9. I did shave down the bump stop. Let me know what pics you want, not sure what you want to see exactly.
  10. I have all what you need, I just took all mine off and will be replacing with calipers. Yours if you want them.
  11. I know what your going thru Mike, lol. Although my torque boxes are all good. One thing I did find was whoever did floorpan repairs last time around used a torch and cut all the bottom of the firewall off too, so something that I could have used (with some repair to the top lip) now has to be replaced with a new firewall. At least the rockers and roof are original, lol.
  12. Its cool to hear all your thoughts and your own stories. Like I said there is no deadline for me either and I get bored doing nothing, ive done lots of projects on different cars ive owned just no 'full' restorations. Its fun, just got to a point today where I felt a little discouraged, im sure it happens a lot to many ppl and im sure it'll happen again during this build. It just seemed that every piece of metal I took off there was another rusted out piece under it, lol. Oh well, that's why I bought it I guess...a project!
  13. Hey guys, I have an original A/C car and the A/C heater box is still in there, I will not be running A/C in my car and thought I would just throw it out there to do an even trade with somebody for a non A/C heater box. This is the only part I have, I have none of the engine compartment A/C items. Its still in the car but I will be removing it here pretty soon.
  14. could u send pic of the 70 sport light bezel.
  15. Well you guys helped already. I am a welder by trade and a fabricator so doing the work isn't the issue. I guess I was just just hoping to get a break with some stuff being good but that just isn't the case. Typical florida car I guess rusting from the top down rather than bottom up. Im happy with the progress ive made in 3 months and there is no deadline, I just miss driving a toy. I sold a turbo charged 03 mustang cobra to buy this thing, lol. I don't regret it, 70 fastback is my dream car. I know I will get there eventually. Just thought I might have gotten a break on some metal :001_rolleyes: At least all the important stuff was solid, frame rails, torque boxes, rockers etc etc.
  16. Oh sorry, I didn't even notice...I was waiting for a text messege, lol. Ill get it out to you, thanks again.
  17. Words of encouragement from your significant other? From your buddies? From ppl on here? I need something right now, lol. This car has not been nice, im not getting a break on anything. Got a cowl to put in, which is fine I expected that but now ive got the cowl out I see the inner kick panels are shot, the outside kick panel are gone and no top lip left on the firewall...ugh. Heres me thinking the sheet metal was almost done...ya right. Oh and the holes in both rear aprons for the hood hinges have all been plasma cut out for whatever reason. I know it'll get done and it'll get done right but man......this thing is kicking my a**
  18. Sorry I cant help you but I will be keeping an eye on this thread as I also have two new dynacorn door shells. Hope the build is going good.
  19. Ok well maybe ill give it a shot. My fenders are off the car also I just wasn't sure how much pressure was on that spring still, didn't want the thing bouncing off the walls.
  20. Hey guys just a quick question here, im hoping to go in the garage this afternoon and do some work on the car. Im hoping to get all the front suspension out today There is no motor or tranny in the car so there is no weight really. My question is can I just loosen the lower shock mounting nuts the way it sits? Or is all the pressure of the spring on the shock because of having no weight and the shock being fully extended. It doesn't look like there is any kind of stop on the upper arm that its resting on so im thinking its the fully extended shock that keeping the spring under pressure. I don't want to loosen the lower shock nuts and have the thing come flying around my garage. I cant jack up the lower control arm as soon as I put any pressure on it with the jack the car lifts because of being no weight.
