Rich Ackermann 174 Report post Posted July 2, 2018 I have the Marti Report for an early October 1968 Built 1969 Sports Roof and it says paint code "D" is "Pastel Gray Paint, Ford #3303-A". Yet many Mustang information websites state in 1969 codes "D" and "6" were both used for "Acapulco Blue" and "6" was "Pastel Gray". So when you have a 1969 car with a "D" paint code and no original paint how do you know which factory color it is...."Acapulco Blue" or "Pastel Gray"? Thanks! Ridge Runner 1,114 Report post Posted July 2, 2018 Unless the car has been taken to bare metal there will be some factory paint somewhere . Look under the carpet ,the floor is usually painted . Behind the end caps ,under the roof weather strip channels ,anywhere it could be covered
barnett468 418 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Irregardless of anything you have read, D is in fact pastel gray and 6 is in fact Acapulco blue. Also, if you got the deluxe report and it says 1 of 76 cars painted this color, that reaffirms it was pastel gray.
Rich Ackermann 174 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Thanks. I do not have the deluxe report yet, only a standard report. I do have Mart's by the numbers book and it says there were 557 2A Standard Interior sports roofs painted D Pastel Gray.. The car, when I got it had been partially restored and is in primer inside and out. The underside of the hood is (Acapulco?) blue, but I did not think it was the original hood. I am going to look more closely elsewhere for old paint and see what color(s) I can identify. Thanks again for your help, Rich

69RavenConv 287 Report post Posted July 4, 2018 FWIW (and adding nothing useful to this thread), I think Pastel Gray is a truly sublime and wonderful color.
