DLN351a 1 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 I have a really good 70 steering column including locks for the doors and would like to install it into my 69. My 69 ignition looked like it had been broken into at one time and fell apart when I took it out of the dash. The rest of the under dash wiring looks ok. I also have an under dash wiring for a 70 standard Cougar in excellent condition. Thanks
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 The 69 instrument cluster is different around the column than the 70 ,it is a smaller opening and the cover is different under the column as well .The wiring connector to the key switch would have to be changed for the 70 key switch .You would be better off just replacing the 69 key switch
Rsanter 152 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Yes you can do it. But unless you really want the key on the column I'm thinking it's not worth the trouble to get it done right Bob
DLN351a 1 Report post Posted August 18, 2015 Hi Thanks I have the 70 instrument cluster so that is not a problem. Also I have 70 Cougar conv and I like having the ignition on the column.
magician 13 Report post Posted August 20, 2015 Not that big a deal to do. I had a 70 in my 69 for years before going back original.
