Location of horn relay

Recommended Posts

Hi, brand new member here. I have a 1970 Mustang which the horn has never worked since I got it. It has two horns in front of the radiator, but I wonder if the horn relay is bad or missing. Can someone tell me where to locate it? Maybe even offer a picture to show me what I'm looking for???

Thanks in advance

IIRC the 70 does not have a horn relay from factory. What I would do

is take a jumper and jump from positive battery terminal to terminal on horn to see if horns are working. If horns work then you need to start looking at wiring, plugs, and switch in steering column.

BTW welcome to the forum

Hello Regta,

IN addition to the great advice already given, I would

mention that the horns must have a good ground to work as

well.

I would remove the bolt holding the bracket and clean the back

to make certain you have a good ground.

Good Luck

One more thought - -if after a good ground and a live feed as suggested

if the horn still won't toot -then look at the horn itself.

You will see a screw that sticks out - - has a knurled head

Try turning the screw a little bit as you have the live wired hooked up.

This screw goes to the baffle
