rchappelear 28 Report post Posted January 14, 2014 So my 69 is originally a power brake auto car. I have converted it to a manual transmission with disc brakes all around. I wish to install a power booster setup. I like mustang steve's stuff, but am not thrilled about the supper large and fat bendix booster. do you have any other suggestions on a good power brake setup for a manual transmission FYI 351w stroked to 418ci quick fuel 750 cfm double pumper vic jr intake manifold afr 205 heads tko600 tranny let me know if any additional information is needed for the proper vacuum
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted January 14, 2014 Have you looked into the Midland unit, or is that the same as a Bendix? I think Midlands are about 7" diameter. Bob
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted January 14, 2014 Do you have power steering? If so you may want to look into http://www.hydratechbraking.com/ It uses your powersteering pump to build up the pressure for power brakes. No vacuum to worry about. I was looking into this about 8 years ago for another car. They are pricey though. If I remember correctly, I thought I read somewhere that newer cars, perhaps Cadillac, BMW or something like that, had this or an electric boost. Can't remember. Do some research and maybe you can get what you need at a decent price.
buening 63 Report post Posted January 14, 2014 You can get the SN95 Hydroboosts fairly cheap. You will have to make an angled bracket for the firewall IIRC. http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-04-01-03-Mustang-Cobra-Brake-Booster-Hydraboost-Hydroboost-Master-Cylinder-/370983320381?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5660543b3d&vxp=mtr
