STL. Mark 11 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I am wanting to replace the 302 engine, convert to disc brakes, and up grade the steering on my Mustang. I also want to have body work done and repaint the car. My question is which should you do first? Do you do the body work except paint first then the motor etc. and go back for the paint? Thanks
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I suggest you get a running, driving, stopping car before you start buying lip stick. That's the way I usually do these things either way it is up to you. Brian
69volunteer 84 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 It is also a function of what level of body work and repaint. Probably doesnt make sense to put all new suspension components or newly painted engine if you are going to have to replace frame rails or want to repaint the engine bay. I had my quarter panels replaced, and some rust in the trunk drop offs repaired then got the car back. I repainted the engine bay myself, did all the suspension and engine work to have a running, driving car, then got it painted. Now I have it back and finalizing the wiring and interior. kidsStang 11 Report post Posted November 12, 2013 I Agree, as long as the body isn,t needing major rust repair, get all the fun stuff on so it will start,Stop and steer, Then get body done,
manley 13 Report post Posted November 12, 2013 I'm a big fan of doing brakes first. Everything else is pointless if you can't stop the car! lol
