Machspeed 219 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Who makes a quality inexpensive spring perch for a 69 Mustang? I have decided to fabricate my own roller spring perches and to keep costs down don’t want to invest a bunch of money into a product that I will be cutting up. I’ve seen spring perches for as low as $16, likely Chinese garbage, but if the metal is good and of good thickness this could be a good base to build roller rockers off of. Opinions? buening 63 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 I built my set of roller springs from the cheapo chinese ones (Grab-a-track IIRC). They were around $20 each. No problems so far, but then again I don't have a "good" set of perches to compare the metal thickness to. The only thing that I can think of that could happen with cheaper steel would be the shaft bending, but no issues thus far.
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Could you reuse your original perches? Or are they is pretty bad shape? I mean free is a pretty good price... ;-) Chuck
Machspeed 219 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 Thanks buening, still not sure what direction I want to go in this. Looking at maybe spending a little more and acquiring the Scott Drake perches, which very well may be the same thing as the cheaper stuff I see on CJ Pony. Jeez, I wished I could physically look at the stuff. Chuck, don't want to use the stock stuff yet.....still on the car and not ready to remove them. Thanks Guys, John
MikeStang 247 Report post Posted August 27, 2013 Buy some new or used ones....I used a pair of cheap new ones, and when I compared them with the old ones, they were just as good.... OR you can buy some already built ones from open tracker racing.....his stuff is nice.
