rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Does anyone have any pictures of the proper locations for the clips that hold the brake lines on. I am replacing all of the brake lines on my '69 coupe so I bought a brake and fuel line clip set from CJ Pony Parts, but I can't figure out the right location of and how to install some of the clips. Thanks, Rick
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Which clips are you having problems with? I have most of my car disassembled and may be able to help locate them. Chuck
rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Here is a picture of the clips that I have. I basically need the location of the clips for all of them, and for the silver ones in the top row I also need to know how they actually mount to the car. Thanks, Rick
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 The top row ones look familiar. I think they mount in or near the transmission tunnel. I may be back under the car this weekend. If I am, I will try to look more closely to how they mount and where. Chuck
rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks. If you have any pictures I would really appriciate it. Thanks Again, Rick
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Pictures might be a little difficult, but I'll try. The car is suspended on jack stands and ramps. Just barely enough room to fit my fat azz under. Chuck
rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 17, 2012 Don't hurt youself over it. Any info will be apreciated. Thanks, Rick
stangs-R-me 120 Report post Posted December 18, 2012 I took a bunch of pics of my original underside when I cleaned it up a couple years back. Installed new brake lines, fuel lines, and clips while I was under there too. Clips install by squeezing the the tangs together with a pair of pliers. They are one-use though, so make sure you've got it through the floor before squeezin'. I took a bunch of underside pics ... don't know if I got all the brake/fuel line clip placements, but I'm sure most are visable. rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 19, 2012 Great pictures! The car looks great. I couldn't really make out where the brake line clips are located from the photos. Also what do you mean when you say to make sure that I have them through the floor before squeezing? Should there be holes in my floor where these attach? I don't have any holes where clips would attach. Thanks for your help, Rick
rickshaner 10 Report post Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Once I got under the car again I saw remnants of the old clips. Once I removed these I was able to understand what you meant by squeezing the tangs together. Thanks again for the help. MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted December 21, 2012 Thanks for the post! Very informative and helpful! Brake lines are next on my list of things to do. The new ones are sitting in the car and about 1/3 of the old ones have been removed. Chuck
