frankenstang 11 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Hello everyone, I needed a bit of advise here. I am starting the reassembly of my '69 coupe with the 200 6 cylinder. The engine is out of the car being rebuilt and the front end is off the car (fenders, grill, headlights, turn signals, etc.). I just finished the interior and hooked up a battery to test everything on the inside before I buttoned it up. Here is the problem/question. My clock, dome light, and under dash courtesy lights work and with the key in the accessory position the wipers, blower motor, fuel gauge, and hide-a-way radio all operate. The problem is no dash lights. Before I go crazy trying to test every connection, is there something very obvious here? Do I need the headlights/turn signals in? Engine with ground strap? any help? Thanks, Steve
frankenstang 11 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 I just checked and the floor shifter light and climate control lights are not working either. Cigarette lighter wire is "hot", and the power lead over the glovebox for the clock lights is not "hot". Any help?
buening 63 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Did you check the fuse for instrument lights?
rmarks 20 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 The headlight switch could also be the culprit.
frankenstang 11 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Fuse looks good, will check headlight switch. Headlights s don't have anything to do with it?
LoneWolf2U 136 Report post Posted April 23, 2011 Headlight switch has a reostat that controls voltage to the inst lights. Most get worn with age and stop working.
