wantahertzdonut 10 Report post Posted May 3, 2010 What exactly are you trying to remove? You will need a tie rod puller to remove any of the tie rod ends, and you'll also need it to remove the pitman arm and idler arm from the drag link.

dlinebar 2 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 And if that does not work a big hammer to get the tie rod ends to pop out after you remove the bolt. Dan

jjstang 51 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 Actually the a hammer works really good. A good shock to the side of the female part, pops right off. Just loosen the nuts first. It works so good, I threw away my forks..
Daves69Coupe 10 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 also used this process, I mixed using the fork with loosening the bolts then hammering the top of the bolt
buening 63 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 Be careful hammering on the bolt as you can easily damage the threads. I always unscrew the castle nut all the way out and hit the nut instead of the bolt.
Daves69Coupe 10 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 didnt hammer the bolt, i unscrew the castle nut most of the way then hammered the castle nut when it was still on the bolt.
Fordrevhead 29 Report post Posted May 8, 2010 You can easily damage the castle bolt as well! Try this: 2 foot pry bar (pressure with one hand), bmfh in other hand... hit the side... hard! I just rebuilt the entire front end of a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with 100k+ miles and it all came apart in about 15 minutes, ONE hit each. It actually took longer to jack it up, safely install the jack stands and remove the tires, lol.
