Baseball Furies 10 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 One of the mounting posts for my driver's side running horse quarter post ornament was partially removed with a grinder at the body shop - not good. What's left of the mounting post (seen at the bottom of the photo) isn't enough to hold the ornament on securely. I tried J-B Weld epoxying a washer to what's left of the post to provide a makeshift stud but this wouldn't hold. Short of welding a new post (and potentially damaging the new paint) does anyone have any ideas on fixing this? Any help would be appreciated - thanks. 70Mach 10 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 You could use black double sided sticky tape to hold the emblum on the car.
468stang 11 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 One of mine snapped off, I ended up through drilling and inserting a 2" steel screw nail to the right height, tack welded from inside then cut rest off. Good luck.
silverfox 10 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Mine had a self tapping screw holding on one side. Seemed to work well. Just get one with the right size head.

jmlay 80 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) They make a screw in stud for replacing missing trim studs, may go to the local glass shop. They can also be replaced with a "stud gun", if the proper attachment is used. Most body shops should have one of these.: http://www.eastwood.com/autobody/welder.html http://www.eastwood.com/stud-welder-trim-rivet-tip.html http://www.eastwood.com/stud-welder-trim-rivets-bag-500.html Edited March 31, 2010 by jmlay
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted March 31, 2010 Yeah, today's double faced tapes are really amazingly strong, pretty much all modern emblems are held on that way. It will certainly be the safest, easiest and probably cheapest alternative. Welcome to the site BTW, nice to have another NH person in the house! I live about 30 mi NE of you down 111 in Exeter. I actually lived in Nashua from 81' to 83' and went to junior high there and started high school. I didn't move back to NH until 2002 but I have lived up and down the New England coast pretty much my whole life.
Baseball Furies 10 Report post Posted April 17, 2010 I went with some 3M Super Strength Molding Tape (03615) to hold the ornament and it did the trick. Thanks for the help. Pak, I make it to many of the local shows in NH - maybe I'll see you around.
