Simple electrical help needed

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am pretty much embarrassed to ask this question.

I put on the new carb. It has an electric choke.

I need a hot lead for the choke.

People told me to use the "I" side of the solenoid.

I don't know what wire that is.

There are 2 main bolts on sides, for cable lines.

Then 2 small posts on center of the solenoid.

I am thinking I need to attach to one of these but which one?

There is one close to the battery side and one near the starter side.

I am totally lost on wires.

Thanks..... Print Dad

It will work OK if you put the electric choke to the I terminal on the starter solenoid. I have seen that terminal do a couple things, but generally, supplies a full 12 volts to the coil when cranking and should still test at 9ish volts running. I have read many posts saying the best place to run the choke wire is to the stator. This is reasonable, because you really only want the choke to be slowly opening while the engine is running (not with the key on listening to the radio etc.) I personally have never done the stator, but have always run to an ignition hot or an accessory. But don't run too many things through the factory resistance ignition wire (which is what you would be doing by going to the I terminal)
