351wconvert 10 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Hi gang Has anyone out there installed a new membrane for the rim blow steering wheel for a 69 or 70 Mustang. I am picking the new one tomorrow and need to replace the old one. Any tips on removal of the old one and installing the new one? thanks Craig 69 351W convertible
Gazoo 10 Report post Posted August 23, 2007 It's pretty easy. You just slide the old one out and slide the new one in. I had to help the old one out with a screwdriver as the rubber had deteriorated pretty bad and was sticky and didn't want to slide. I also recall having to solder on the wires to the electrical contact strips. You'll soon learn to avoid squeezing the steering wheel when you're turning after you've blown the horn at people for no reason at all. :)
351wconvert 10 Report post Posted August 23, 2007 Gazoo thanks for the info . . . no need to glue it into place or anything? So I guess it slips into the slot on the rim and stays there? 351wconvert
