are the hole sizes diferent or shaped different?

both start life as the same. the auto gets the knife treatment to fit around the auto shifter housing in the hole, thats the only differance.

I've got the picture you want, but how can I get it to you? There actually is a difference. The hole cutout is offset to the left and the slopes on the side are at different angles.

 

It's kind of hard to explain. You know the old saying a picture is worth a thousand words.

The opening for the 4spd console is smaller than the automatic. The sides of the opening will be longer than the front and back (relation to the car). The 4spd sides will all be equal and no notch has been taken out to fit the auto shifter. Confused yet?? :lol:

someone spent $8,000 on that pile. I mean, it is a Mach 1, but what ISN'T wrong with it? I could not get into this hobby if I hadn't bought the car 15 years ago when I was a teenager. Sheesh.
