  1. Got a few items done, installed a new speedometer cable, old one broke and I drove without one for a year as I couldn't get the car high enough on jack stands to work my arms around to route it through the firewall. With the lift it was still a biatch but finally squeezed my arm far enough past the header to get it in. Next up was changing oil....oh it is so much easier now.... And now the last major item before summer is routing the emergency brake cable. Been without that since 2006. I always park in level spots anyway except for one time. Came home from work at about midnight on a Friday. I only drive it to work on Fridays when it is nice out...to many idiots on the road it seems. This particular night my garage door opener wasn't working. Parked the car, jumped out, left the driver door hanging open. Walked over to the main shop entrance, unlocked the door, reached in and hit the button. As I walked back out I saw the car rolling down my driveway backwards..... For a 61 year old guy I did a great impression of Usain Bolt and sprinted after the car, got around the door, grabbed the roof and launched myself into the driver's seat and stomped on the brake. Managed to stop less then 2 feet from running into a tree as the car had veered off the driveway a little. Anyway, been reading everyone else's stories and updates, cars look great and people have some amazing projects underway. Happy St. Patrick's Day all...
  2. Greetings All, it has been several years since I was last on...family and work issues that pulled in several different directions and required all my time. Hoping the majority of that is finally in the rearview mirror and the road ahead is unencumbered with traffic snarls (lol, yeah probably not). Anyway, I did manage to get a few things accomplished in the last 7 years.....still have not been able to fully paint the car but figure that should happen next year. One project was replacing the torn upholstery on the front seats. Upgraded to TMI Sport series II foam and upholstery. Turned out great, much more comfortable to sit on, ended up installing 2 inch extensions so the seat could sit back a little further as the new foam is much thicker than the original foam. Still need to do the rear seat but it's actually in good condition right now, no tears that I have seen. Over two winters I repainted the engine bay with the motor installed...okay yes I am not smart, lol. I had the bay painted back in 2006 when the motor was out but with all the work over the years it needed to be freshened up so I did the front half one winter and the back half the next winter. I did stuff like this during the two weeks the company would shutdown over the xmas holidays. Then I decided I wanted to see what the new Wimbledon white looked like so I did a small area on the firewall. Finally...after realizing that I was getting to old and fat to put the car on jackstands and crawl under it, I bought a 4 post lift...man I wish I had done that 10 years ago. Anyway, that's a quick update, I plan on being on the forum more going forward. Figure 5 more years and I will retire from having an actual job and then be able to spend alot more time having fun like this. It is great being back here and seeing everything all of you are doing!!
  3. Greetings again all, been a few years since I was last on, sometimes we get wrapped up in life. Anyway, I have the 69 fastback running well, 351W Dart bored/stroked to 427, fuel injection, 78 lincoln versaille rearend, disc brakes on all four, C6 tranny built to handle the horsepower, etc. The other day a friend at work and I were talking mustangs, and I mentioned that I was thinking of adding overdrive to my C6 to give the car a little more leg so I could put the 3.70's back into the rearend. He mentioned that he had an automatic transmission from a lightning left when he bought an engine/tranny combo and only put the engine in his '98 mustang coupe. Basically he is willing to give it to me free of charge, and I was wondering if anyone had put a newer computer controlled tranny in a much older car. I figure I should be able to buy a computer node for the tranny but figured I would toss it out there to see if any of you had done this or heard of anyone doing this.
  4. Amazing man, nicely done. I've done all the mechanical work to mine, hoping to get the electrical harness removed/replaced this coming winter. Then once the car runs like I want for good, tear it down and paint it up. Nice to see one going together as well as yours is.
  5. Sadly I think you are right. I just don't think it will be viably implemented in our lifetime, (next 40 years). I remeber back in '72 when the idiots in D.C. said we "need to lessen our dependence on foreign oil...", D.C. likes to talk a big game, but until the oil industry sucks every last dollar out of us that they can, the lobbyist will still manipulate the puppets in Washington to talk the big talk, but still not do anything that would resemble a true move to a new fuel source.
  6. 2007 Dodge Megacab 4x4 3500 is my primary ride, I pulled the stock exhaust off and am running a 5" pipe from the turbo back along with an XRT 120hp superchip, it definately has some more get up and go now. Fuel mileage also increased which is nice!
  7. I am running the 2 1/2" stainless kit as well and it just barely fit, I have to take it to a shop this week and have a couple of pieces "tweaked" to make it fit without hitting anything. Sound is great, but I do not think I could get a 3" in. Mine is a 69 fastback with a 351W stroked and bored to 428. I actually was able to drive it a bit a few weeks ago for the first time, but I need to adjust my brakes some more as I am not getting enough pressure to the rears.
  8. Dude that is nice work, I never had the patience for doing woodwork that nice. My hat (if I wore one) is off to you.
  9. same here, has to play through the radio, funny thing is that it came preinstalled in my truck, and when I added the unit to the wifes van, I got better reception with it then the factory installed unit, I think the factory antenna is junk.

    Bad gas

Yup!!!!!! you don't get to see much of it, but it is the white car with the magnum 500's on the front tire. I made the whole family watch it so they could see the little shot of the car too!!!

    Bad gas

we had a little problem with some bad gas here this last week at a couple of the local stations, my buddy who owns a repair shop sent me this link from the interview he did with the local news, wasn't until I watched it that I realized that he did the interview next to my mustang that we are almost finished rebuilding http://www.komonews.com/news/19443789.html?video=pop&t=a# hope it works for you guys
  12. another vote here for FPA headers, very heavy duty construction, great finish, and mate up nicely with the magnaflows, tight fit in the engine bay, but with the Ron Morris adjustable motor mounts, I was able to move the engine around to clear everything. Should finally be firing the car up in June hopefully, have most of it wired now, just waiting for sparkplug wires, and then its fire the beast up time.:w00t: Only down side is now work is slow so I have no money, and gas is over $4 a gallon so I can't afford to take it out and really drive it this summer.:001_9898::cursing:
  13. aww, :shit:, I knew Pak would jump all over me. haha, saturday is major search day, sure hope i come across them.
