  1. What color is that ? It looks like a very dark blue. Good luck with the projects !
  2. Yup...I am leaning toward the Clevor. Dare to be different !! If there is any advice on the mod you can pass on I would greatly appreciate it. I'm gonna go with the 2v heads, Edelbrock intake and KB110 pistons. The other issue will be the cam. With my 69 block I don't believe I have a lot of room to play with with the deck height.
  3. Hey LSG, Thanks for the info. I live in Victoria, BC...Canada... My goal is to have respectable performance while looking very cool !!! The original engine the car has is the 351W(M code 4V). I was thinking of using that block with the Cleveland 2v heads. But now that you bring it up, I could just use the complete 351C like you mentioned. I have heard that the Windsor block has better oiling than the Cleveland. However I will not be 'racing' the car, it will be a street car. I like the idea of having a Boss vert look. What would I have to do to the car to put the complete 351C in. Is it not a lot heavier than the Windsor? I am putting in new springs and KYB gas adjust shocks already. Also are the motor mounts the same ?? I guess basically the question is...Cleveland or Windsor ??
  4. Ummm...I'm using my wife to shovel the snow.....duh:yes: !!!
  5. Well I have found a set of 2v clevland heads (1972)...actually its a complete engine and trans (C6)...I got him down to $300.00 for both. The Edlebrock intake (Part #7183) and complete gasket set (Part # EDL-7377 ) run around $450.00. All I need now is a set KB110 pistons and I think I'll give it a try. The only thing I'm a little iffy on is the deck height for my Windsor block. On the KB site it states... "Pre-'71 blocks have a .020' shorter deck height and do not provide adequate stock for squaring or decking the block..." My block is a 69, so Im not too sure what this means for me...Im just a stupid bodyman/painter....not a mechanic....
  6. I would love to see those pics. As for the pistons, if you do end up wanting to sell them let me know. I am definitely interested. I found a set of 2v heads and it looks like Edelbrock has a complete gasket set (Part # 7347) as well as their intake. I am quite pumped about doing the Clevor build. Again if you decide to sell them KB110's, just send me a PM. Thanks !!!
  7. Hey Stangme428 ! I am looking at doing the clevor mod to my 351w. What pistons did you use? I am looking at the KB110 (Flat top) with the Edelbrock intake. Also you mention that the block needed some machining as well as the heads. Do you know what it (The block) needed? I was of the understanding that you only needed to drill 3 holes (2 - 1/2" and 1- 5/16") in each side of the block. Thanks for any info you can send my way. ie part #'s and any roadblocks you had. Thank You !!
  8. I didn't have to replace the complete rail. Only the side and top lip were rusted. I had a piece made up out of 12 gauge steel. I then cut out the rusted areas and welded the new piece in. The rest of the rail is in great shape. It was just rusted where the last person put some sort of spray foam in to hold the floorboard in place. :scared: Tonight I etch primed the bottom of the floor pan and did the final dry fit. I have about a quarter of it welded in now but I ran out of wire for the welder....Time for a beer....
  9. After a little modifications the passenger side floor pan has been finally fitted to where I'm happy.
  10. Well I got the toe board half welded in today. Tomorrow I hope to finish it and hopefully I will get the floor pan at least fitted....
  11. To do the 1" Shelby drop on the 69, you don't need the wedge kit do you ? Isn't that for the 66-68's ?
  12. I am thinking about doing this mod to the 69 Vert.... What do you guys think of this? There is a place that sells them as a turnkey crate for a very good price (http://www.heartlandenginebuilders.com/) $3690.00 for 400+ hp and you get that BOSS look in the engine bay. I could probably use my own block and have the machine shop here in Victoria do the conversion. Edelbrock has all the parts for the mod including aluminum Cleveland heads. Or I could just use cast 2V heads for a lot cheaper. Then use their intake and gasket kit. Any thoughts??? I am seriously looking at this mod. Thanks for any info !!
  13. Good news !! Glad ya figured it out. I guess the way to go is to get an alignment when your finished replacing the suspension/steering ! Thanks for the info !
  14. Well I've had enough of this snow crap !! It's snowing AGAIN !!... And these damn drivers in Victoria have no clue on how to drive in this chit !!:censored:.... Oh well...It must be global warming....Maybe I'll put an electric motor in the Stang !!:scared: OK...seriously...Only 2 pics today ...batteries died on me... I spent a few hours fabricating and repairing the frame rail on the passenger side. There was no need to replace the whole rail. For the most part it was really good. Just the area where the last person did the spay in foam was rusted. So I made a piece to replace the whole side and top rail part that the floor sits on. To keep it solid I ran it all the way to the seat pan re-enforced structure. It came out very strong. I am quite happy with it. Tomorrow I will start on the toe board and floor pans
  15. Hey !! It was minus 2 Today !!! And they say more snow for tomorrow !!! I moved away from Winterpeg to get away from this crap !!! I may actualy see a white Christmas for the first time in 20 years !!! What the hell !!!
  16. Hey badwolf69... Timely post !! I just purchased THIS Kit from Laurel Mountain Mustang and hope to install it over the Christmas holidays. Did you happen to take any pics while you did yours ? I have never done anything like this before, so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated !! Good Luck on finding and fixing your problem !!
  17. Well I took the stitches out of my leg on Sunday and finally got some work done. I have most of the passenger side floor cut out, I have the inner rocker rust all cut out and have started repairing it. I also have the passenger torque box in as of tonight. Its not totally welded in but it is in. It took a lot of work and a whole bunch of swearing but it's finally in. The front frame rail is repaired and all seems very solid. I'm finally getting the hang of welding and it seems to be going a lot faster now. A few little tricks sure go a long way. I ordered the suspension/steering package today from Laurel Mountain Mustang. Here's the Kit I ordered. I have never done any undercarriage work so if anyone has any tips please let me know. I plan to video the dismantle, hoping it will help me with the install.
  18. I would love to come across this kinda find... CLICK HERE... Too bad the lawman may crush them all.....
  19. yup....patients....is the best advice. Video as well. I will be taking video of all the suspension/steering before I take mine apart. Enjoy !!!
  20. Has anyone here dealt with Laurel Mountain Mustang ? I'm looking at buying their Super Suspension kit. It looks like a good deal. I'm just wondering if anyone has used them or this kit before? Im also looking at the Starter kit from Mustang Plus however the one at Laurel Mtn. comes with Midolyne bushings and a Monte Carlo bar or Export brace....Decisions, decisions......
  21. Another born again vert !!! I am also in the midst of a vert re-birth. Looks like you have a good car to start with. Don't let it get to ya when you pull the rugs out and see the floors...or better yet, don't see thefloors.. One thing I have learnt about these projects is ya never know what to expect. Good Luck and keep the pics coming !!!
  22. Your bang on about that color ! I sprayed a few pieces for my 69 vert the other night and the color is amazing. It looks like you build is moving along at a good pace. I only have a couple of hours a day to work on mine. It looks like you'll be driving the ol Stang pretty soon !!
  23. Very Nice !!! What do you have on the floors ? Sound deadner ??
