  1. So I should be able to stay away from a cowl hood :D Oh, wait..... I forgot to mention I need to mount the TPS on my carb for the Bauman controller I'm getting. I wonder if the tps will fit with the drop base filter...
  2. I don't mind cutting the hood, or the 14" dropped base filter would be better. Whichever one fits with less hassle and does not choke my carb for air is the one I want.... Correct, no choke
  3. I haven't bought my motor mounts yet and I have a Holley 4150/prosystems 850 ish carb
  4. I'm looking at purchasing a nice original MACH1 hood without the scoop since my hood is beat up on the front edge. I have a ford motorsports vic Jr intake that I'll use on my 408w and I was wondering if Its possible to cut out the area under the scoop so a air filter can fit with the hood closed. Something like this must have been done in the past if anyone here has seen it or knows if this will work. I really don't want a cowl hood. It's just not for me.
  5. Yeah, I'll be home for the next 3 hours if you want to stop by, I have to work tonight
  6. Just made a deal on a 7qt t-sump oil pan :)
  7. I'm finally getting my cam order from Chris straub (core delays) and I ordered a new set of springs from him since my heads have the wrong springs so I need to change those out. I wanted to get a spring height micrometer and some hardened shims but is that all I should need besides the spring compressor, spring locators, retainers and locks? I'm tempted to just have my engine builder do this but I need to learn!
  8. I have my eyes on a few different double pass radiators. A champion radiator is looking nice
  9. Still wondering if it's a must have upgrade for a agressive driven street car with little chance of strip.
  10. I will. I just like asking more than one person and with all the knowledge here, I can't go wrong :)
  11. I already bought the pump........ so what exactly is the problem? I didn't see anything about this issue when I searched for problems with this type of pump.
  12. Just got off the phone with my engine builder and he told me I'll need a neutral balancer and flywheel/flexplate because the rotating assembly is internally balanced. That's good right? :) I wanted to use the 1969 stock crank pulley that's mounted to the balancer with 3 bolts instead of 4 but if I have to replace it with a 4 bolt then so be it. Any suggestions guys?
  13. I figured it out with some searching, the 1969 351w already had a passenger inlet and Ford changed it to a driver side inlet in 70. Plus, the application chart on summit says it fits a 1969 351w. Thanks guys
  14. https://m.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8841 I forgot to post the pump ha ha ha
  15. Will this pump work with a stock pulley system on my 69 351w? I know it's the opposite side inlet. The radiator I'm looking at is a dual pass and the radiator inlet and outlet are on the passenger side
  16. I still say your one of the best knowledgeable people here! I haven't had someone else be as detailed like this. Great guy!
  17. Since I only need to run the alternator and water pump I wanted to keep the cost low on this part and keep the OEM v-belts I still have the pulleys and brackets from the 1969 351w engine I took out of a 69 cougar. It had ac and ps but I don't need those now. I wanted to use those pulleys and brackets if possible but I'll use whatever I have to finish this assembly
  18. The easiest thing is to choose a pump for the block/timing cover I have right? The block and cover are both from 69
  19. Yeah, that's what I decided on.... Thanks guys
  20. I was originally going to use a DCC but today i was reading that the owner/builder is a huge PITA to get a hold of if you need anything lots of people said to stay away from that guy on a different forum. Now I chose to go with a Ron Francis ar88 https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=AR-88 Yes it's pricey but I don't mind paying a little extra for quality products that's not going to overheat my $$$ engine I haven't seen anything bad about these guys and I keep seeing they have great support
  21. Yeah, I don't see it saying a 351w but I think it'll work. Be careful with the underdrive pulleys so you don't overheat.
  22. Hey guys, I'm down to a few things to figure out for my 408w and the water pump is next. I was looking at some pulley sets on summit but then I began to wonder if it has to be a reverse rotation pump...... I have a timing cover from a 69 351w I wanted to use if possible.... I don't have a alternator yet or the pulley kit if you guys have recommendations. Nothing special, just as long as it works and looks decent. I will only need to run the alternator and water pump because I'm going with electric fans, mechanical fuel pump, electric power steering and no a.c. Thanks guys
  23. Have you checked the timing with a timing gun? Have you checked for dragging brakes? Have you had a wheel alignment recently?
  24. Does the distributor have a vacuum advance and does the vacuum advance hold vacuum if it does have one?
