  1. ya not worth it... My fathe just found a 69 mach with a 428... not original 428 but it is a 428 car.... has much less rot then the one you speak of and only paid $3200....
  2. heres what i would do.... buy the gt40x alummnum heads.. i can get em for $700 assembled for the pair.... and buy a regular hydro cam kit for around $200... it will still move plenty... with a performer rpm intake and 650-700holley.. thats under $1000 for heads and cam... then when its time to upgrade use the other $1000 and sell the gt40x heads for around $500 and youll be golden... to build a stroker 393/408... so save the $1000 in a account for a later engien build and still have a stout motor with decent heads for only $1000
  3. cala-tracs seem to always come up. must be the way to go. thanks
  4. So... i had a 351 in the car.. puting out about 375-400hp at the motor nothing crazy.. im swaping that out for a 460 stroker to a 496.. this will make about 400-450 at the wheels no to mention close to 500 torque...plus once its dialed in i have a 125 shot for it... how am i going to get this to hook at the track? here is what i have so far... 5 leaf rear springs, 50/50 shocks, cheapo traction bars, with a 27x9' micket thomps et street... skinnys up front 3.89 gear.. might put the battery in the trunk....by he way its a steet car... drive to local car shows and the track.. Im hoping this should hook up ok... i never did get the 351 to the track with the sticky tires only street tires and only could muster a 12.57... anymore ideas how to got it to hook better with leafs let me know please..
  5. dang this is a heavy car... haha to much motor... i told him 3500lbs yesterday to be safe... should be close... i hope
  6. Thanks guys I'm going to tell him roughly 3400lbs.... Then when the cars done take it to the scales... And see where I'm at...Hopefully by march
  7. I have a 1969 mustang... it is going to have a 496 stroker in it.. I am in need of knowing the weight of the car... he camshaft grinder needs the weight to make the best cam grind.. here is the rundown to make a accurate guess... my guess was 3300lbs... 1969 mach 1 full interior high backs etc (no sound deadening) c4 tranny 9" rear alumnium radiator 15.8 weld rims in back and 15x4 skinnies up front 496 big block based on 460... (alumnium heads, aluminum pump, aluminum intake, headers) my guess without me in the car is 3300lbs... does this sound even close? if you want to know more about my engine combo just let me know.. should run in the low 11's high tens... or anything else about the car
  8. Well it is going to be used for racing. Would you still say a 15x7 would work? I guess then i could use even a 4 inch backspacing if i went with a 15x7 correct

  10. looks like a 4.50 backspacing would work fine considering some have a 275/60/15 with that. and that is just a tad bigger. I think I may just go with a 4.75 backspace because summit has rims for $39.95 a piece with that.

  12. Jut picked up a cheap set of slicks at the swap meet and am looking for a set of cheap rims. The size of the tires are 28-9-15. I was thinking just a basic 15x8 with 4.5 backspacing would this work? or what do you think I would need?

  14. Well you were close 13.0 with a horrible 2.2 sixty. Wit threw the traps at 116mph. Time to start saving pennies for drag radials
  15. well Not as good as i wanted but it has potentinal. A 13.00 @116. With a 2.2 sixty.
  16. ya thats what I was thinking. It was raining here before and stopped. I did run my best time when it was 35 degrees with my 03 mach 1 with the same tires though.
  17. O sorry its in NJ today its only gonig up to 50degrees and I wont be at the track untill 730 or so. So more like 40degrees when I run Gotta heat up them tires good

  20. Going to the track this friday lets hear what you think its gonna run. No money involved just seeing who can have the braggin rights of the best guesser. Details trying to be specfic as possible 69 mach1 full body. 351W .040 over 700dp holley vic jr intake harland sharp roller rockers dart pro 1 195cc heads (aluminum) 10.1 compression comp cams XE 294H (duration at 050 in250/ex256)(lift in554/ex558) canton 8 quart pan with baffles and windage tray c4 with shift kit and 3000stall convertor ford 9 inch with 3.89 gears Here is the biggest problem tires are hankook ventus II's (street tires) I think i got the lauch down on the street at least.
  21. Ya i was hoping it would be a good topic. I have heard that stock rods are good to about 500 if shot peened etc. but thats dangerous if i making 425 on motor and even hitting a 100 shot? I saw 5140 rods but do not know how good they are only $250 but not sure on their rating. HP wise The only other is eagle h-beams for $550. then I could probally hit a 200 shot. but budget is not tight but 550 for rods?
  22. So i am in the process of building a nice little track car. It will be mostly track only driven there(15min@50mph) The question I have is I am building a 351Cleveland. I am hoping for about 400-450hp on motor. Then I am adding nitrous under the intake manifold so its like a direct system. What shot is safe to run with stock rods and forged pistons? When should I step up to forged rods? I was hoping to run in the 11's with a 100shot in a 3200lb car.
  23. seller just answered my question it is used for vacum like i thought , but do you think it can still be done with one nozzle?
  24. I saw this under manifold nitrous kit on ebay. I was wondering if this would be safe to run a 150 shot through. It looks as if the fuel and nitrous mix at the distribution box. If I am wrong can some please explain. It also looks liek it can be done cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260348937908&viewitem= item number 260348937908 Please help Thanks
