No problem. Thanks for looking though. I am going to do a bit of measuring to ensure the water pump pulley I am looking for will work with the crank pulley I already have.

Belt routing after manual steering conversion

Thanks for the various ideas. I am trying to track down a C90E-8509-E pulley and hoping not to have to change my crank pulley. I will try to get a part number off of my crank pulley to get a better idea of exactly what I have. -
That would be great. Please let me know.

I am looking for a single groove water pump pulley of part number C90E-8509-E. Condition is not important other than undamaged and straight.

Belt routing after manual steering conversion

Larry, is the crank pulley you mentioned necessary or can I just get the water pump pulley and use it with my existing crank pulley which is a three groove pulley? -
Belt routing after manual steering conversion

Thanks for narrowing this down in less than 12 hours. I would have never been able to figure out what exact pulley was needed. I will start on the forum(s) with a wanted ad and move on from there is needed. -

So the following pulley should do it? http://www.cjponyparts.com/water-pump-pulley-289302351-steel-2-groove-5-3-4o-d-1965-1969/p/WPP1/ Is this pulley something that can be found in a junkyard to on various vehicles? -

I measured that possibility however, there is not quite enough clearance behind the alternator. -
Belt routing after manual steering conversion

Ahh, right, driver's and passenger's side. I did not follow the correlation between d/s and p/s, and a water pump until it was spelled out. The water pump outlet is on the driver's side. The water pump pulley is a single groove while the crank pulley is a triple groove. In my case, the alternator belt does not drive the the water pump. The power steering belt drives the water pump. Perhaps with a double groove water pump pulley the outermost groove would line up with the alternator pulley. Here is a picture of the pulleys I have. -
Belt routing after manual steering conversion

The engine code indicates that it is a 1970 351W. The damper is stock and the pulley is a four bolt. I am not sure what d/s and p/s mean. -
I am going to convert my 351W Mustang to manual steering using a center link, pitman arm and idler arm. Once I remove all of the power steering components including the steering pump, what options do I have to belt routing for the water pump? Is there a water pump pulley that places the groove further out to combine the water pump with the alternator belt?

Regarding the ground, I use the radiator support as a ground. For a 12V keyed source, that is a bit tricky since the power would run all the into the ignition switch and then back out to the fan. An alternative that I have in my car is a separate fuse block that has the keyed 12V running off a relay switched by the ignition. Thus the full load of the fan would not run through the ignition switch. I hope that made sense. I am interested in answers to these questions to attempt to improve my wiring.

I had a similar issue when using a valve stud girdle. I made my own baffles from sheet metal that were much lower profile that what I found online. Maybe this thought might help.

What Borla's do you have? I have Borla XR-1's on a truck that have a great, but very loud, sound. In the spirit of helping Kaspar, here is a video of the the Borla ProXS muffler that sounds good.

Thanks for the quick replies and information. I did find the Ford stamp and date code (9MB = February/1969). It appears they are at least original if not original to my car.

I replaced these wheels (14") on my 69 a few months ago with a set of Torq Thrusts. I have someone interested in them and want to make sure I know what I have. Do these wheels appear to be original or aftermarket? Also, an idea of value would be appreciated.

map light different for standard and deluxe interiors?
alex replied to alex's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
Checking in on this thread to see if you have either found a map light for a standard interior or altered the deluxe version. -
What is the link to the NPD mud flaps? I did not notice a link to them in this thread.

map light different for standard and deluxe interiors?

I have not yet found a reproduction standard map light but am continuing to look for one. -
I pulled off the left side sail panel and found that the possibly original panel has a hole already in the panel backing. I only need to cut the vinyl.
-
Thanks for the replies. Since I will try making the holes does anyone have some measurements for the hole locations?

Triple post due to impatient finger.

I have 1969 sail panels in good condition but without a hole for a light. Is it possible to cut holes in original panels or is it more trouble than its worth and I should purchase aftermarket sail panel?
