Unisteer with Factory AC Bracket and Sanden Compressor

Recommended Posts

There are two upgrades still on my list I'm toying around with.  Rack and Pinion and an upgraded A/C pump.  Classic Auto Air has a kit that fits a Sanden style pump to the factory brackets.  Unisteer has separate kits for A/C and Non-A/C small blocks Fords. The Factory A/C setup has a remote PS fluid reservoir.   As I've put a fuel pressure regulator and a coolant overflow tank on the PS side of the car I don't have a lot of room.  I believe the remote reservoir is due to how far the York Style pumps stick out to the side.  I was wondering if anyone has done the Unisteer kit with factory A/C that might have photos.  Also I was wondering if people had any thoughts on trying to fit the normal Unisteer Kit and the Classic Auto Air kit to car to eliminate the need for a remote reservoir.

I did ask Unisteer what they thought and they said they had no idea if it would work or not.

I've read that the Unisteer kits perform better than Ranall's racks with a better turning radius which is why I'm looking at them.  Looks like Flaming River also uses a remote Reservoir.

I am running a unisteer with a saginaw pump with AC, but I also have a big block, with a vintage air kit, and using CVF brackets. I looked and don't really have any clear pictures of the clearance between the two, but my guess is with the factory style AC pump it would be even tighter.   I think the factory AC bracket is going to be the challenge for fitting it all on the motor.
