My new rocker panels are too long

Recommended Posts

I am replacing the rocker panels on my 69 mach 1 with new ones, these are ( not dii ). New front fenders are on, new doors (not dii ) are on, these doors are all so longer by  1/8 , new back fenders ( yes dii ) are on, door gaps front and back are good. Where the rocker panels meat the lower front fender that gap is good. Now here is the problem, the rocker sticks out 5/8 " into the wheel well past the back fender.  I have measured alot of 69s and this measurement is  60 and 1/4" ( this measurement is taken from where the rocker meats the lower front fender back to the lip of the wheel well ,do not add in the gap where it meats the front fender ) The ones i have are  60 and 7/8" .  Both sides are the same. I don't want to cut to fit .  I want rockers that will fit. Did i get some that are stamped out longer ? Please advise. Thank you.

Check the width also, I purchased a 69 Dynacorn rocker the length was ok but the width from the inside to outside was to wide. If I remember correctly the tray where the harness lays was wider than OEM i wound up using the repo to patch the original.

I compared a driver Dynacorn rocker with an original 65 rocker ,you can see the difference .With the 69 over laid the 65 sticks out about 5/8 -3/4 inch .the door point on both rockers is the same

I measured my Cj rocker and from the door point to the end of the rocker is 60 1/4 .i measured the Dynacorn rocker and it is exactly the same. I measured side width on my CJ and it is 4 1/4 ,the Dynacorn is the same . The only difference in the two rockers is the extension is made on to the Dynacorn rocker .It can be cut to the proper length if the extension does not need to be removed ,the rocker will simply overlay the original extension
